![]() Tune into ‘Majority World’ on NEAR (North East Access Radio) 101.6fm, today and every Thursday 4:30 – 5:30pm. Repeat Friday mornings 9 – 10am. NEARfm is a community radio station serving North East Dublin from the city centre to the airport and Ballymun to Fairview. On today’s programmme Tom Hyland of the East Timor Ireland Solidarity Campaign on the co-ordinator of the human rights and justice group AFRI, Mr Joe Murray becoming the first recipient of the new Archbishop Desmond Tutu international award aimed at honouring “unsung heroes” in the non-governmental organisation sector. I’ll be interviewing Len Aldis from the Campaign Against Arms Trade on shutting down DESi (Defence Systems and Equipment International) Europe’s largest arms fair, which is to be held at London Docklands 9 – 12 September. There’ll be music from The Steps and Woody Guthrie, Agent Apple will dispatch tales of The Biotic Baking Brigade And The Global Pastry Uprising. Finally human rights activist and Voices In The Wilderness campaigner Caoimhe Butterly reports from an increasingly violent and unpredictable Baghdad. |
