Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5This appears to be a trial run. If Fingal Co. Council get away with this, the other Councils will quickly implement it in their areas.
So, even if you do not live in the Fingal area, get up early and get there to support them, otherwise YOU'RE next.
Are there any actions planned for the stoneybatter area tomorrow (thurs) as thats when the bins are collected in this area? If anyone knows can they post details please.
There is a lobby of the Grangegormon depo from 7am to around 8.30 am on Thursday morning. Should be other people from Stoneybatter there as well so get along and bring some friends.
RTE reporting that council are saying 5 out of 10 of there bin lorries have been surrounded by protesters.
"Gardaí in North Dublin have taken the names of anti-bin charge protestors who have been trying to prevent refuse lorries from collecting waste.
The protestors have been told they will be prosecuted.
Fingal County Council said five of its ten refuse lorries have been affected by the protest, which follows today's announcement that householders who have not paid their waste charges will no longer have their rubbish collected.
Fingal, which covers areas including Blanchardstown, Swords, Malahide and Balbriggan, is the first local authority in the country to implement new legislation governing the collection of waste.
It operates a tagging system and says its charges are among the cheapest in the country.
Householders must pay ?5 each time they put out their rubbish"
Good luck.
Say no to the bin tax.
