Britain's public inquiries are a money pit, chasing stories that suit them while ignoring the facts. David Livermore calls out the Covid Inquiry for spinning dodgy stats and brushing aside the huge harm lockdowns did.

3. European Social Forum- Irish delegation planning meeting
4. Defend Civil Liberties Demonstration- 6th July
5. Organising committee meeting Sat June 8th

1. the return of CATALYZER!

The good folks from the Catalyzer collective are getting together
again
for a night of musical mayhem this Thursday June 6th, from 9pm to 3am,
in the Abbey Hotel in Middle Abbey Street. The gig is to help
Globalise Resistance subsidise
travel costs to Seville for those who want to go. DJ's on the night
will include Ollie Moore
(resident Handels)- Electro, Steve W.T.G.- Allsorts, P.U.D.Z.,- Hip
Hop, Donn- Punk/Reggae,
Hiteck- Drum and Base, and many more. There will also be UV visuals
and videos of recent actions,
demos etc on the night, and all campaigning groups are also invited
to set up their information
stalls.
Final travel and accomodation info for Seville will also be available
on the night.
Catalyser was always one of Dublin's strongest clubs, hopefully
Thursday will see the return of
the posse as a regular monthly night fixture for the activist
community. Spread the word!

2. Defend Donal!

Donal Mac Fhearraigh was arrested at the Irish Anti War Movement's
first demonstration, as it
attempted to march from the British to the American embassy. He is
now appearing in court next
Wednesday 12th of June at 10am at the Bridewell Court, Chancery
Sreet, behind the Smithfield
markets. Donal is standing up for his right to demonstrate and has
been backed by the IAWM.
Everyone who wants to fight the crackdown on our civil liberties
should bring banners, flags and
placards along and make some noise. Thats 10am, Wed 12 June at the
Bridewell.

3. European Social Forum planning meeting

In last week's bulletin, you will have read about the upcoming
European Social Forum gathering in
Florence in November, which promises to be the biggest activist
summit yet of the anti capitalist
movement. All groups interested in going to Florence are invited to
a planning meeting on the 2nd
of July, at 7.30pm, in the Teacher's Club, 36 Parnell Square, Dublin
1. If you know of
environmental, social or human rights activist groups you think would
want to participate, please
invite them along. Florence will be a massive event- the Irish
mobilisation should be as big and
as inclusive as possible.

4. Scrap the Public Order Act- Defend Civil Liberties Mobilisation
Central Bank, 3pm Saturday 6th July

There will be a major demonstration to defend civil liberties and the
right to protest,
before the majority of people arrested at the Burlington are brought
to Court on Wednesday July
10th. Since the Burlington (14 arrests), we have had the Irish Anti
War demo (2 arrests),
European Car Free day (8 arrests), Reclaim the Streets (over 20
arrests and 14 hospitalised) and
now, most recently, 25 workers arrested under Section 8 of the Public
Order Act for picketing.

The strike took place at Control Plus,a company which clamps cars for
Dublin Corporation. It is a
large American multinational that viciously opposes unions. They
refused to promote union members
to seven new positions they created, filling them instead with
scabs. When workers went on strike
and blocked the company's entrance with a solid picket, management
called the Gardai, who arrested
25 picketers.

First they came for the anti capitalists,
then they came for the anti war movement,
now they are coming for the trade unions.

The message of the thousands strong rally on the Thursday
after the crackdown of RTS in Dame street,
was that if civil liberties were not defended, then other groups, like
travellers and strikers, would experience similar repression.
This is now the case, and there is a lot of anger in grassroots trade
union circles over these arrests.

All out on July 6th
Defend Civil Rights- Scrap the Public Order Act

5. Organising committee

At the last monthly activists meeting, volunteers came forward for
the organisng committee,
to make sure that all those things discussed and agreed were built
for. This means leaflets,
posters, mailouts, gigs, forums like Mary Kelly and Dan Baron from
the MST, etc The OC meets once
a week downstairs in Simon's Cafe at 3pm, and its next meeting is
this Saturday 8th of June.
So for those of you who like the donkey work- we'll see you there.

Right, that's it for another week. See ye all at Catalyzer in the
Abbey Hotel this Thursday, 9pm
ish. If i can't dance, I don't wanna be part of the revolution...
etc

as it happens, that post concerned more than just gr/swp: it concerned Catalyzer (Katalyzer is actually the correct spelling) too.
Katalyzer was a club which sprang from an independent magazine, "Catalyst" . It (the magazine) focused mainly on ecology, local democracy, animal rights, road protests ,Anti GM, IMF but also more cultural areas - the politics of free parties, culture jamming etc, and even some cosmic/spiritual stuff...
The gigs launched the mags, then took off in their own right. Stalls, performance, eclectic and global music, performance, comedy...many theing, won't bore you any more but I hope you get the idea...
I won't go on about what the gigs were like, as this is, in some ways, mearly a point of order.
But people like the seed savers, Genetic concern, Glen of the Downs, V.O.I.C.E. (Voice of Irish Concern for the Environment) were fundraised for. Not especially 'Hard Left' more 'neither left nor right but ahead' types really...
This time, and I hate to say this ,that wasn't just another SWP/GR post - the next C/Katalyzer may or may not be a GR/SWP fundraiser. But it will be a fundraiser...and a meeting point and an information spreader.
but this is, as I said, just a point of order really....
