We are facing a radical agenda set by the progressive wing of the educational establishment, says Dr Stephen Curran. We should build on the past 14 years' foundation, not tear it down.

Day-to-day weather, with all its extremes, is "just weather", according to the IPCC. With their authority onside, we can shrug off the BBC's melodramatic climate reports and misinformation, says Mark Ellse.

RSF refutes McDowells 'slur' on its good name

category national | crime and justice | press release author Tuesday December 09, 2003 16:40author by Ailín Report this post to the editors

"Republican Sinn Féin refutes in the strongest possible terms the attempt by the 26 County Justice Minister, Michael Mc Dowell to take our good name by attempting to associate our organisation with criminal activity, in a report carried on RTÉ radio's 'News At One' programme, today (Tuesday Dec 9). The only activity engaged in by Republican Sinn Féin and its members is legitimate political activity, as we have done for almost the past 100 years, the centenary of our foundation is in 2005."

"This latest attempt at 'Felon Setting' is clearly politically motivated, in an attempt to discredit and criminalise true Irish Republicans, simply because of the stance taken by us in refusing to accept British rule in Ireland. It is very likely that Mr McDowell would have used similar colourful language to describe the Provisionals up to ten years ago, but as they have since fully signed up to British rule and are actively collaborating with it they are now deemed to be 'respectable' and above reproach."

I may not agree with rsf but they are upholding the traditional republican strategy and goal. SF has abandoned it's own program and vision to reconcile with the powers that be.

They should just imprison anybody who uses the terms Free State, Free Stater, 26 Counties, etc

would make life a whole lot easier

Apologists for Omagh.

When has Republican Sinn Féin ever supported the Omagh tragedy, carried out by the so-called "Real IRA" (and allowed to happen by the Staters and the British Crown Forces in order to bolster support for the Stormont Agreement)?

How can they do that when they don't have a good name to begin with. RSF support the Omagh bombing, they are apologists for murderers. Putting car bombs in main streets on a busy saturday is not freedom fighting it is MURDER.

I am concerned that what the IRA did in the past is now being glorified by people in SF. What the IRA did was MURDER. They targetted ordinary people in shopping centres, railway stations, main streets, pubs. They targetted Protestants and British people regardless of their role in the conflict. There war was not a war of liberation but a terrorist murderous war.
