Screenings, Forums and Workshops...

The Indymedia centre will run for 10 days, from Friday April 23rd, until Monday May 3rd, and will host a large range of events. This is the provisional listing of what's going on in the Indymedia Mayday Centre.

In addition to the screenings, forums and workshops, there will be an exhibition and information space where Indymedia photography will be displayed and where groups will be able to host information stalls. The programme is far from finalised and we need you to help fill it out. If you would like to participate in a forum, hold an information stand, host a workshop or put on a screening, please get in touch with us and we will do our best to facilitate you. Indymedia Public Forums

Indymedia public forums will include a panel of speakers who will give brief introductions to the topics, followed by open discussions. They will take place in the Large Screening Room which can accomodate up to 300 people
Friday April 23rd
7pm	Opening Forum	An introduction to the Indymedia Festival	Speakers from the Indymedia collective and the Community Media Network will host an introduction to the festival
Saturday April 24th
11am	Media Forum	Why we need Indpendent Media	Speakers will include Vincent Browne, Harry Browne and an Indymedia editor in a look at the problems with the mainstream media and indymedia's attempt to come up way to tackle them.
2pm	Forum on Europe	What's so bad about the EU?	Speakers form activist groups opposed to the current direction of the EU (grops to be confirmed - contact us if your group wants a speaker)
Sunday April 25th
1pm	Community Media Forum	Access to the Information Society	How can under-resourced groups take advantage of information technology to get their message out. Speakers to include activists from the Kris campaign and the WeSeize counter summit during the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), held in Geneva last year.
4pm	Mayday Forum	What's Mayday Dublin 2004 all about?	Why are groups planning to protest on Mayday and what points are they trying to make - your chance to put them on the spot. Including activists from Dublin Grassroots, Wombles, others.
Thursday April 29th
7pm	Social Forum	The Dublin Social Forum	A brief film showing of footage from the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre and the European Social Forum in Florence. Speakers from Indymedia UK, Dublin Social Forum, others
Friday April 30th
3pm	Mayday Forum	What protests are planned for Mayday?	A chance for protest groups to talk to the public and the media on the eve of Mayday and EU expansion
Sunday May 2nd
6pm	Feedback Forum	What happened on Mayday?	A look back on Mayday and an evaluation of what happened
Monday May 3rd
4pm	Indymedia Forum	Back to the Real World	A look back on the Indymedia Mayday Centre experience, the Mayday eventa and where we go to from here

Indymedia Screenings
Time	Film	Description
Indymedia Screenings of film projects with a social focus. They will be followed by a discussion of the film. In most cases, this will involve the film-maker. They will take place in the Large Screening Room.

7pm	Undercurrents Newsreel	Irish premiere of the new film project by the award winning undercurrents activist film-maker crew
Saturday April 24th
3pm	European Indymedia Newsreel	Footage from European Indymedia projects, with a special emphasis on the accession countries.
4.30pm	WEF summit in Poland	The Indymedia Centre in Poland will be covering the summit of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Poland during the Mayday period. Footage from their coverage.
7pm	The revolution will not be televised	Director's cut of the award winning documentary by an Irish film maker caught inside president Chavez's palace during a US-backed coup attempt.
Sunday April 25th
12am	The Irish anti-war movement	Short documentaries about the anti-war movement in Ireland and the Shannon protests. What really happened.
7pm	Berlusconi's Mousetrap	Screening of Indymedia editor Eamonn Crudden's documentary about the protest against the G8 in Genoa in June 2001, during which a protestor was shot dead by the police.
Monday April 26th
7pm	Not in my Name	a powerful new documentary film which tells the story of the U.S. led war on terrorism you DIDNT see on TV. Further Details
Tuesday April 27th
7pm	Guerrillavision	Since Seattle Guerillavision have been documenting the campaigns against globalisation from behind the barricades. These are stylistic hard hitting films (Big Rattle in Seattle, Capitals Ill and Crowd Bites wolf) which pull no punches. But be careful, watching all three together will have you reaching for a rock and heading for the nearest symbol of capitalist oppression. Further Details

7pm	Globalisation and the Media	The award-winning Undercurrents documentary on how the media shapes public opinion in the "War on Terror". Further Details

12am	Digital Photography and the Internet	How to photograph events and distribute them over the Internet.
12am	Indymedia Rights	Your legal rights as an Indpendent media producer. What can you film?
2pm	Speaking to the Media	How can you get the media to listen to you and your group. Techniques for speaking to the media.
2pm	Art for social change	Using performance art and theatre to make a point.
4pm	Free media software	Producing media with free software.

The timetable looks brilliant. Has anyone ever heard of Mark Achbars " The Corporation", i seen a screening of it in a squat in Amsterdam, reall really good documentary about the corporate world. If anyone hyas links to anyione with copy, might be an idea to show it at free time in the week.

Well should have looked at da timetable before I let my comment on da other page, looks like you won't be wanting a musical instrument making workshop.... any space sorted to do sum prop making?

Would you guys like a copy of 'Holiday Camp'? it's a docu about the Woomera Refugee detention centre in Australia, around da time people tore down da fence
