Inishowen summer gathering

A brilliant success!

Friday to Sunday signalled the arrival of what was hopefully the first of many great summer gatherings in the wilds of Inishowen.

The gathering organised by a committee including verteran environmentalists & artists Brendan Farren and Kathleen O'Hara, attracted 100s of people from all over to this remote and magical corner of Ireland.

The event took place beside Doagh island famine village and right next to amazing mountains, hills and ocean.

There were plenty of workshops, stalls, demonstrations, parades, gigs, fires, singing, cooking and craic.

The Bitchin Kitchen crew arrived from the Rossport Solidarity camp in Mayo to feed the masses with yummy food.

The event created a real buzz of community, peace, healing, inspiration and 'walking the talk' and everyone left feeling refreshed and re-energised.

Hi,

I would like to thank the organisers and everyone who made last weekend, the summer gathering, a truly amazing experience. It is exactly one week later and I feel I am still on a high from the energy that was given out up in inishowen. From when I arrived on Friday night till I left on Sunday pm, the feeling of a calm, positive energy was so tangible....and while doing tai chi on the beach on sunday, the sun came blazing through, I truly thought I was going to burst with energy. I'm afraid I can't put into words the kind of atmosphere that was created and what it meant for me to be surrounded by good decent earth/life loving people and I just can't imagine how much organisation and background work went into it because it seemed like it had just grown up from the earth, so seamless and effortless.....thank you, though that sounds so lame for what you created. I do hope you still have enough energy to hold another next year.

Thank you allowing my spirit to be free.
