Greens vote for cuts in education

Green Party Alderman Brian Wilson revealed the true nature of the Greens when he voted for draconian education cuts in Co Down last week.

A package of cuts including, 140 teacher redundancies, cuts in classroom assistance for special needs children and price increases for school meals are part of the governments attack on children’s education.

The vote was taken at a meeting of the South Eastern Education and Library Board (Education and Library Boards have responsibility for education in Northern Ireland).
DUP, UUP, SDLP, SF and the Greens are all represented on the Board. The Greens where the only political party to vote for the cuts at that meeting.

The vote was 14 against 5 for and 1 abstention.
