Blair assassination 'justifiable' - Galloway

Barry writes:

'if someone is responsible for massacring your neighbours and has illegally declared war on your country you are quite entitled to defend yourself and your country by physical means , including bumping off the aggressor . Releasing a ballon for peace wont put a stop to an imperialist agressor .'

Is this the same Barry who consistently denies that he advocates violence, does not encourage anyone to angage in it, and who claims it is not the way forward? Yet here he is suggesting that killing Tony Blair is a way forward. I spy a liar or a hypocrit in the room....

if your not in favour of whispering in Pilate's ear then why should you be interested in influencing anyone presently?

Of course if Al-Qaeda manage to kill Blair no doubt they will get a lot of support internationally even from British people.
But there are two sides to the coin.
That means Israel has the right to kill Palestinian terrorists.
The CIA has the right to transport prisoners to Guantanomo or else simply kill them.
The Bush administration was therfore also justified in invading Iraq and overthrowing Saddam.

one of the first moral dilemas we are set as teenagers in the western tradition, is one of the most telling of "moral relativism". usually we are set the dilema by a clean faced and eager (& popular) young teacher straight out of "H. dip. Ed." course.
if you could jump in a time machine & go back - would you kill Hitler as a kid knowing what he would do?" Interestingly we are never asked if you could jump in a time machine & go back - would you kill Stalin / De Valera / Napoleon / Scipio Africanus Minor / Pol Pot / the Kaiser / Edward Carson / michael Jackson / Cromwell / Einstein / Denis Donaldson knowing now what they did, or would do or cause to be done - then/now/before/next ?" I must admit the temptation of "retro-temporal-murder faciliatated by Jules Vernes science fiction" never appealed to me. I wouldn't go back & whisper in Pontius Pilate's ear, I wouldn't interfere in the death of JFK or John Lennon, Mahatma or Indira Ghandi, Michael Collins or Julius Caesar. I doubt I'd have something really positive and learned to say to either Cain or Abel. Achilles would not really be someone I could get on with. I don't even think I'd go back and advise Michael Mc dowell to spend more time worrying about legislation and the beasties and less time worrying about smokers, firework street vendors or foreigners. Pretty soon enough the clean faced and eager (& popular) young teacher straight out of "H. dip. Ed." course, realises that the young generally have a remarkably blood lusty appetite for "retro-murder". Give them all that science fiction offers, and our history (faked or real) would be littered with drive-by shootings. At that stage, the clean faced and eager (& popular) young teacher straight out of "H. dip. Ed." course, realises that morality is not so easy to teach.
It must be learnt. & long before the "H. dip. Ed" course decides who gets to be a teacher.

let's keep it simple.
Don't Kill.
= Don't murder = don't assassinate = don't make war = don't sign execution warrants

do not sign or cause to be signed any more execution warrants Michael. take this advice at least.

(And here it is....)

"It would be entirely logical and explicable. And morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq as Blair did." George Galloway

British MP George Galloway has said the assassination of British Prime Minister Tony Blair would be "morally justified" given his support for the war in Iraq.

The anti-war Respect MP said a suicide bomb attack on the prime minister would be "morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq as Blair did".

The controversial left-winger added that he was not calling for such an attack and that he would tip off the authorities if he knew of one.

But his remarks provoked a furious response, with one Labour MP calling him "disgraceful" and "twisted".

In an interview with GQ magazine, Mr Galloway was asked whether the assassination of Mr Blair by a suicide bomber would be justified, if there were no other casualties.

He replied: "Yes, it would be morally justified. I am not calling for it, but if it happened I believe it would be of a wholly different moral order to the events of 7/7.

"It would be entirely logical and explicable. And morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq as Blair did."

Asked by interviewer Piers Morgan, a former editor of the Daily Mirror, whether he would alert the authorities to an attempt on the Prime Minister's life, Mr Galloway said he would.

He added: "Such an operation would be counter-productive because it would just generate a new wave of anti-Arab sentiment whipped up by the press. It would lead to new draconian anti-terror laws, and would probably strengthen the resolve of the British and American services in Iraq rather than weaken it. So, yes, I would inform the authorities."

Mr Galloway, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow in east London since he ousted a sitting Labour MP in last year's election, said he would rather see the Prime Minister brought to trial for war crimes.

While opposing attacks on civilians, Mr Galloway said that suicide bombing was the same as Second World War missions in which soldiers faced certain death.
