This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!
This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".
According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.
People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

Well here's some news for you Maurice and this story is not getting the attention that it deserves and that's the arbitary and illegal dismissals of the Irish Region Secretary of the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union (ATGWU) Mick O'Reilly and the Irish Organiser for the ATGWU Eugene McGlone by Bill Morris, acting in cohoots with a tiny totally unrepresentative right wing extremely reactionary section of the ATGWU led by Ben Kearney and John Bulger who staged a right wing coup d'etat in the ATGWU directly helped by large sections of the Irish trade union movement in connivence with the Irish and British governments to silence any fight within our unions. Outrageous and all as that is what's even worse is that some of those who were directly involved in shafting Mick O'Reilly and Eugene McGlone contribute to this newswire and what's more they try to pretend to be radical. I'm thinking in particular of a member of a clan that was one of the main instigators of sticking the knife into Mick and Eugene and that's Nora Geraghty a member of the infamous Geraghty clan daughter of Des Geraghty who has many very serious questions to answer about his role in shafting Mick and Eugene, now that it's all come out into the open. How can Ms Geraghty come onto this site and preach and lecture to the rest of us? How can she stand up at meetings and say that she's Anti capitalist? The time of the easy rides for the likes of Geraghty and co are now over. From now on we'll hassle and harrass you'se where-ever and whenever you'se go and where-ever and whenever that you'se speak.
