Public Forum

The Cork Branch of the Socialist Workers Party is holding a public forum entitled "From Bloody Sunday to Guantanamo-the Slow Death of Democracy" on Monday 14th August, at 8.00pm in the Victoria Hotel, Patrick St., Cork.
Speaker Eamonn McCann.

The Derry-based veteran civil rights activist Eamonn McCann will address a public meeting in Cork, entitled "From Bloody Sunday to Guantanamo-the Slow Death of Democracy". This meeting will analyse the means by which Imperialism withdraws and suspends human and civil rights from those who challenge its aim of world domination.
Eamonn is well placed to talk on this topic, having been one of the founders of the Civil Rights Movement in the Six Counties in the mid 60's. Eamonn was present both on October 5th 1968 when the RUC attacked a peaceful civil rights march in Derry and also in that city on January 30th, 1972, when the parachute regiment murdered 14 unarmed civilians.

Eamonn is the author of a number of books including "War and an Irish Town" and most recently "The Bloody Sunday Inquiry-The Families Speak Out"
This meeting is hosted by the Socialist Workers Party in Cork. It will be held on Monday 14th August, in the Victoria Hotel, Patrick St., Cork at 8.00pm

All welcome.

So Brit Para's murdering Civil Rights Marchers is equivelent to Guantanemo? Thats one helluva leap of faith.

On the one hand you have;

Civil rights marchers; unarmed, peaceful, wanting Human Rights for all, marching like Dr. King & Gandhi with their children in tow.
Vs.
Guantanemo Prisoners- Armed, captured on Battlefields, would kill anyone in their way especially civilians, highly intolerant to other religon's, cultures

Sorry, no sympathy for the Talibans, Al-Kaydies, etc.
