A month after the arrival of Scotland's Hate Crime Act and it appears reports of the demise of the Scottish Enlightenment may have been premature, no thanks to the SNP but due to the doughty spirit of the Scots.

Should governments be able to censor online content for the entire world? That's what Australia is claiming the right to do. But do they really think China and Russia should be able to choose what the world sees?

a school with a difference

On the 29th of october a fund raising concert is being held in the falls hotel in ennistymon to raise funds for a national school not recognised yet by the department of education. Doors open 9pm

Last september the first school of its kind was opened in Ennistymon in north clare. A few parents came together to give their children a new choice in their education. It is a multi denominational bilingual(irish /english) Steiner school. It was opened for the children of north clare. it differs from other steiner schools in that it implements the existing new curriculum as opposed to the steiner curriculum though in actual fact the steiner curriculum is also covered. We had 13 pupils last year and this year there are 29. The school has not received a penny from the government as they have not recognised it this year. Instead all work and teaching is done on a voluntary capacity and the school is funded soley from concerts. Last year Paddy Casey and The Walls enabled us to have 2 rockin gigs thus funding the school and this year the Frank and Walters and Sharon Shannon will be assisting us in 2 concerts. The Frank and Walters are playing exclusively in the falls hotel in ennistymon and will not be playing anywhere else in Clare. There are also two great support acts in Veneer a limerick basd band and Serious Mischief an excellent local reggae band. Tickets cost 16 euro and can be bought on the night , over the phone if you have a credit card at record rack music shop in ennis or booked through me on 086 1043528. so come to clare and give the children your support. the children learn the curriculum through the use of gardening, woodwork ,movement ,baking and much more. These and all children have the right to attend a school that embraces all beliefs and integrated stimulating methods of learning. go raibh maith agat Róisín
