Having served 18 years in Spanish jails Iñaki de Jauna should have been
> released on October 25, 2004,

For immediate release: 19/09/06
>
>
>
> However the case of Iñaki de Juana has seen
> the Spanish authorities attempt to stop Iñaki’s right to remission. When
> this failed they constructed spurious charges against related to two
> articles that he had published in the Basque daily newspaper Gara. The
> Spanish authorities have now called for an extra 96 years to be served.
> Iñaki de Juana has now been on Hunger Strike from August the 7th to protest
> at this flagrant abuse of his rights and continuing detention.
>
> Speaking today spokesperson for the Irish Basque Committee, David Kennedy,
> said:
>
> “Iñaki de Juana has been on Hunger Strike for over 6 week now and Saturday

Here is the link to the letter a ETA prisoner wrote criticising Inaki's action as endangering the peace process and being selfish - remember he decided which of the commando members would shoot which target in addition to his own kill-rate of 25.
http://www.cadenaser.com/articulo/espana/ex/preso/etarr.../Tes/
The ETA POW who wrote that was very aware of what happened to junior ETA members who wouldn't have followed Inaki's orders. Does it need to be spellt out for you? Of the dead ETA members in 2006 two committed suicide in spanish prisons two just turned up executed. Gara the basque AP/RN who didn't report Inaki's hunger strike or protests in the beginning - didn't blame those executions on the GAL. Because the GAL don't exist anymore. The AAA who Inaki mentioned in his letters are also before the courts of Spain and Argentina at the moment. Inaki the hero of rebels against Franco, might have got his first official mention in Spanish state files as praise for his work - too is an anachronism. The Basques had a chance for peace last year - a good one a better one than they had had before.

and so to compare - here's AP/RN (in english not irish) article on the man who broke the peace process but everyone wants to save now.

And when the spanish nationalists fascists ( political sons of Franco dictator) will send letters to the 26 basque families that spanish killed with the spanish paramiltar group GAL...

Or when the spanish nationalists will send letters to the basque people or spanish people who killed during the 1936-1939 war and the next 40 years of spanish franquism "democracy" (over 1 million of dead persons in total)?

The spanish are hipocrits and liers... they use to say that Gibraltar is "an british colony" when the 100% of gibraltarian people want to be british (everybody who travell to Gibraltar knows that)...

But to the spanish they don´t like to somebody (specially if that person is a "outsider") say that Basque Country (or Catalonia) is a spanish colony (as it was Cuba, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, etc, etc... )... spanish hipocrists!

Why always every political elections in the Basque Country win the basque political parties and lose the spanish political parties?

Why the 75% basque people voted to the basque political parties and we want a free basque state... but the spanish minority nationalism in the basque country don´t assume the reality?

WE ARE NOT SPANISH, WE ARE NOT FRENCH...
WE ARE BASQUE, WE HAVE OUR LANGUAGE, CULTURE, NATION AND PROUD ABOUT THEM!

IT´S TIME TO PEACE.. IT´S TIME TO GO...

SPANISH GO HOME..TO SPAIN...

AND LET US TO THE BASQUE PEOPLE LIVE IN PEACE AND FREEDOM LIKE A NATION!

UP FREE BASQUE COUNTRY!

The use of the expresion 'political prisoners' referred to members of the criminal terrorist group of E.T.A., Euskadi eta Askatasuna, responsable, and proud of it, for more than 900 deaths, is an offense for all those who think that political objectives are never to be impossed by violence . The reason why he is not being released from jail, is that during his imprisonment he wrote some articles in which he encouraged his terrorist mates to kill the judges who had trailed him. This is not admissible in any democracy, not even in the so young spanish one. His hunger strike is just a way to put pressure on batasuna, not on the spanish justice, in order to make them refuse the Rodriguez Zapatero's government offer of legalization, as long E.T.A.'s prisoners are not released. The prime minister said at the begining of the so called 'peace process' ,( no spaniard has sense of war since 1939), that 'no political price was going to be paid to the terrorists'. Releasing bloody assasins like de Juana, and many others, before they refuse to violence for their political struggle, is something no political leader willing to be reelected is going to admit.

Hey Michael,

first of all,u dont have to get an english name to pretend u are an english speaker...we guess u are not , just by reading ur comment...
probably u haven't heard of or seeing any other country showing their support to Iñaki cause u just read the right wing papers... people are showing their support all over the world ! even the spanish channels are talking about him...

Iñaki completed his sentence in 2004, they use any excuse to keep him in jail. They have used two opinion articles in order to request a new sentence of 96 years in jail…

How come its only the irish who support the basque cause. I don't see much protesting about all this in other countries.

Because that terrorista is something like a basque Bin Laden or Gerry Adams, two soul mates of Inaki De Jauna.

...you could send another few emails of concern to the families of the 25 people that De Juana killed between 1985 and 1986, reason why he's in prison. It would be a nice touch and would show your human side, if any.
