This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

Will it be The Raytheon 10?

Tenth person arrested

This morning, Tues 24th Oct, a tenth person was arrested in connection with the occupation and decommissioning of Derry's Raytheon facility

Another member of Derry Anti War Coalition was arrested by the PSNI this morning. Goretti Horgan was arrested on suspicion of Aggravated Burglary with intent to commit criminal damage and Unlawful Assembly - pretty much the same charges as the Nine already charged. She was questioned under caution and released pending a file being sent to the Crown Prosecution Service. About 30 members of the DAWC gathered outside Strand Road police station as word spread of the arrest.

On her release, she told the protesters "like other members of DAWC, I told the police that I associate myself with the actions taken on the 9th August and take personal and political responsibility for everything that happened as we acted to repudiate the war crimes in which Raytheon was involved in Lebanon and Gaza. I freely admitted having entered Raytheon's office along with the Nine charged. While no one welcomes the possibility of a criminal charge carrying a heavy prison sentence, if charged I will face the court as the accuser not the accused."

Looks like the northern police are interested in doing their bit for the Bush war machine.

Incidentally, Goretti Horgan will be speaking at the Anti-War Ireland public meeting in Dublin on Thursday night alongside the three former Abu-Ghraib interrogators. We look forward very much to hearing her report on events in Derry.

ATGWU Hall, 55 Middle Abbey Street, at 7.30pm on Thursday night.

Solidarity from Anti-War Ireland.

This is a disgrace.
What the hell is the world coming too. People who fight against war and opression are hauled before the courts and face prison sentences. What the hell for? For destroying missile making equipment and saving lives and showing the world what is going on right under their stupid bloody noses thats what.
Its bad enough whats happening to Eammon and his supporters but now its happening to someone who didn't even get into the Raytheon plant. Come on this just smacks of the weapons company colluding with the government to shut people up and stop them from getting in the way in the future.
They have miscalculated this time bacause its very obvious whats going on and the public will not stand for it. The Nazis did this and the Russians. It will not happen here as well. If this doesnt encourage people to take to the streets and show their support and contempt then I dont know what will. They have gone to far this time.

Far from any far fetched Hollywood style conspiracy theory, it seems to me that something much more down to earth, such as 'fingerprints' or being caught on security cameras etc would have led to the arrest.

You commit a crime, you get arrested. No suprises there.

Vertex: ' a rose by any other name....'

Vertex Aerospace LLC, formerly Raytheon Aerospace LLC, was acquired by Veritas Capital, a private equity investment firm, in 2001. The company changed its name from Raytheon Aerospace LLC in June 2003, but Raytheon Company (its former parent) retains about a quarter of the company.
Members of Vertex's board of directors who have US government connections are indeed numerous. For instance, Barry McCaffrey, a member of the board of directors, was on the advisory board of the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, a Washington lobbying group formed in October 2002 to increase public support for the war in Iraq.

Background

Vertex Aerospace LLC, formerly Raytheon Aerospace LLC, was acquired by Veritas Capital, a private equity investment firm, in 2001. The company changed its name from Raytheon Aerospace LLC in June 2003, but Raytheon Company (its former parent) retains about a quarter of the company.

Vertex Aerospace LLC has its headquarters in Madison, Miss. The company is considered one of the leaders in aviation and aerospace technical services, and its 6,300 employees operate in 42 states and 32 countries. About 95 percent of its sales are for the U.S. government, and its annual 2001 sales totaled about $500 million.

From 1997 to 2002, Vertex Aerospace (then Raytheon Aerospace) received around $2.1 billion in U.S. government contracts.

Former parent Raytheon, which maintains an interest in Vertex Aerospace, had more than 5,300 contracts with the U.S. government from 1990 through 2002 worth nearly $58.5 billion.

Barry McCaffrey, a member of the board of directors, was on the advisory board of the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, a Washington lobbying group formed in October 2002 to increase public support for the war in Iraq. Richard Perle, who serves on the Defense Policy Board, a government-appointed group that advises the Pentagon, served on the same committee. Perle, who advised the Turkish government through his International Advisers Inc., also helped the Raytheon Company in attempts to sell its Patriot missiles to Turkey in the early 1990s. In June 1991, the Defense Department awarded Raytheon a $346.3 million modification to an existing contract, which included funding for 32 Patriot missiles for Turkey under a foreign military sale.
Afghanistan contracts

According to a list of Pentagon contracts, Vertex Aerospace has a contract for aircraft equipment maintenance and repair in Afghanistan worth nearly $7.4 million.
Government ties

According to chairman of the board Robert McKeon, the former government officials that work for Vertex or serve on its board offer "insight, not political connections or clout. They know what our customer, the Pentagon, needs and wants." Members of Vertex's board of directors who have government connections are indeed numerous.

Director Richard Hawley, who spent 35 years with the U.S. Air Force, served as Air Combat Commander from 1996 to 1999 and the commander of the Allied Air Forces Central Europe and the U.S. Air Forces Europe from 1995 to 1996. He was a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Director Barry McCaffrey served as the head of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy from 1996 to 2001. Prior to assuming his "drug czar" duties, McCaffrey had a long career with the military, culminating in his service as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Southern Command from 1994 to 1996. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy. McCaffrey serves as a frequent media commentator on military matters, including the most recent Iraq war.

Director Joseph Prueher, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, was the U.S. ambassador to China from November 1999 to May 2001. That position followed a 35-year career with the U.S. Navy, including stints as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Pacific Command; commandant of midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy; commander of Carrier Battle Group ONE, U.S. Mediterranean Sixth Fleet, and NATO Striking Forces; and vice chief of naval operations at the Pentagon.

Director Leighton "Snuffy" Smith left the Navy after 34 years as a four-star admiral in 1996. He became commander-in-chief of the Allied Forces in southern Europe in December 1995, where he assumed the leadership of the NATO-led Implementation Force in Bosnia. Smith remains a senior fellow at the Center for Naval Analysis and a senior adviser at the U.S. Naval Institute. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.

Director Anthony Zinni ended 39 years of service with the U.S. Marine Corps when he retired in September 2000. From 1997 to 2000, Zinni served as commander-in-chief of U.S. Central command and, from 1994 to 1996, he was the commanding general of the First Marine Expeditionary Force. Zinni joined the Raytheon board in September 2001 and in November 2001 was appointed senior adviser and U.S. envoy to the Middle East by Secretary of State Colin Powell. Zinni held that envoy position until fall 2002.

Executive Vice President John Robinson spent 33 years as an army pilot and retired from the U.S. Army in October 1994 with the rank of major general. He had served as commanding general of the Aviation Training Center at Fort Ruckner in Alabama.

Director William G. Tobin graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and held military positions worldwide from 1961 to 1981.

The company also hosts military officers for one-year corporate internships under the Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellows Program.
Legal Action/Investigations

In January 2003, Raytheon, the former parent company of Vertex Aerospace, reached a $4 million settlement with the U.S. attorney's office in Kansas after Raytheon had improperly billed the Pentagon for product-liability insurance, the Washington Post reported. The improper billing occurred between 1988 and 1999, and the company changed its practices in 2000.
Updates

Updated information released by the Department of Defense revealed that Vertex Aerospace (along with Raytheon Aerospace) has received work orders totaling $91,096,464 for aircraft maintenance and repair in Afghanistan.

Jeanne,
This is very useful info. If you - or anyone else - have anything similar, please do forward it to the Derry Anti War Coalition as it would be useful in preparing our defence for our members (Raytheon 9).

Thanks for posting it.
