Rossport book Sold Out in Mayo

press release
Wednesday January 24, 2007 12:26 by SWM PR - Small World Media
Our Story by the Rossport 5 is being reprinted after the book sold out in Mayo and a book tour of the country is being planned Shops in Mayo are being restocked next week with copies of Our Story by the Rossport 5. The book, which was launched in Castlebar and Glenamoy in late December, has sold out in Mayo.
"There was a bit of a feeding frenzy immediately before Christmas and the New Year," said Robert Allen, the publisher. "We expected it to calm down and for the books to sell slowly but that didn't happen. They just kept selling.
"The sales remained consistent throughout January, so much that we knew we would have to reprint quickly or face complaints," he said. "With this reprint, copies will now be available in all bookshops in the county and in shops in Belmullet, Barnatra and Rossport."
Terence Conway, Small World Media's Mayo rep, has been run off his feet since the turn of the year. "Sales will level off now," he said, "but they'll pick up again in the spring and summer."
While the book has been selling well in Mayo, sales around the rest of the country have been slow. "It is selling well in some places," said Allen, "but in others, particularly in Easons stories, it is not moving as fast as it is in Mayo.
"We think this may be to do with a rumour that was put around in Dublin that the book would not be available outside Mayo or in Easons stores," he said.
The book, he said, is available nationwide in book shops as well as in many other outlets. "We are launching a book tour in February to promote the book, with the men travelling around the country to do signings and readings."
