NIPSA General Council Elections 2007

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | other press author Thursday February 01, 2007 13:48author by Unity Report this post to the editors

A new left alliance?

Time for Change enter into alliance with "Uncivil Servant" in bid to win control of NIPSA General Council.

Northern public sector union NIPSA has embarked on the annual ballot to elect the 25 strong ruling executive (General Council).
With public services under attack through wide ranging government reforms the outcome of the ballot could be critical in forming the union's strategies in the face of the Blair/Brown agenda. In a bid to win control of the Council, the Time for Change grouping have agreed a voting pact with the activists from the Child Support Agency (Branch 8), who campaigned separately in the past under the "Uncivil Servant" banner, to consolidate the left vote and force out the current majority faction "Reclaim the Union".
