Fact Not Fiction Gangland and mobiles

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | opinion/analysis author Friday May 04, 2007 12:03author by Kevin T. Walsh - Social Justice and Ethics Report this post to the editors

Who praises people like Willie Corduff, Nobel Peace Prize Winner (Environment)

We need TV naturally to embrace news and what is happening around us. We also need radio but Liveline this week was a complete sham. Joe with the ego (Bottler)and Williams (the great man of fiction on Irish Gangland). We all know what happened when a prisoner phoned from a cell in Portlaoise. I personally believe RTE have broken the law on this occasion. How can we have a prisoner in Portlaoise taking the airways and making threats.

Williams stated as always the lies on Liveline that prisoners were walking around E1 landing in Portlaoise prisons with mobile phones swinging everywhere. People listened with bewilderment. I am sure Anthony Campbell's mothers did not feel happy listening to gangland speak directly on the radio. Now I know Duffy has a lot to prove. He took over from Dear Frankie as Ireland's agony act or perhaps now Ego aunt.

The facts came yesterday, hard and blunt. McDowell came on Liveline yesterday and for 15 fifteen minutes, Duffy kept his mouth shut - it must be a record. I am not a McDowell fan but in fairness, he told Joe facts are facts and there are no prisoners walking around Portlaoise carrying mobile phones. McDowell went on to say there maybe some phones smuggled in but that is a matter for the prison authorities to deal with and they will.

McDowell also told Duffy that three members of staff are pending proceedings at DPP level, in relation to smuggling in contraband into prisons but what impressed me most about McDowell yesterday - McDowell showed Duffy up to be the Little Bottler in the Classroom taking instruction from the Head Master.

Williams come from a paper of 40 pages of sex adverts and D'Arcy's page on just how great he is....

Facts are Facts and I am sure Joe did not like being lectured to. Liveline cannot be trial by radio for any Irish citizen. Last year Duffy was caught out when some looney from Cork phoned in and made an ugly remark about Ms. Leech, Mr. Martin Cullen's advisor at the time. Miss Leech is currently going through the courts in relation to this remark about her character.

I ask why has Joe not considered bringing on Willy Cordfuff, a member of the Rossport Five (Shell) who has just won the Nobel Prize (Environment).

I also ask the most pertinent question .......... Why has no-one Minister, the President, the Taoiseach, the Church not congratulated this man on his Global Achievement. In any other country, Willie Corduff would be a hero but in Ireland he is villified by a corrupt Government bought by Shell. Would Bottler Duffy and Sherlock Holmes Williams ever wake up and write about good people for a change and stop giving Gangland Scum Airways.

Again I will say it was great to see McDowell giving Joe a lesson about facts. One more point - Vincent Browne a real journalist took over the show at the Mansion House, now Duffy and Williams, could not tie his laces when it comes to media coverage. Browne may not be popular with some but he is a brilliant journalist.
