Day-to-day weather, with all its extremes, is "just weather", according to the IPCC. With their authority onside, we can shrug off the BBC's melodramatic climate reports and misinformation, says Mark Ellse.

By the way, that last photo above of the big pit, with the caption about folks being surprised by how big the site is - that photo shows only one part of what is a huge site.

Good luck to all today. Sorry I can't be there- wish I was.

As for the safepass guy - don't you know what a joke that is?

So far we've had multiple injuries outside the site, with one inside - due to a security worker's assault.
Which is safer? - Let's just say you'll need more than a hard hat and hi-vis vest to walk the roads
of Bellanaboy in safety.

Well done to those who entered the site today. Even though there was no work to be stopped the information gathered will proove very useful for further actions at the site. As for it being hazadarous I think when the site is not opperational its much safer and it can't be worse than going out on the road and getting pushed and shoved into ditches. I totally agree on the TARA point however its absolutly critical that people learn to adapt to the climate of what issues are hot at the moment, and TARA is situation critical. As for health and saftey i dont thik tara is a cozy place to be hanging about either right now.

Whats this obsession with locals?? Some locals want the refinery Some dont! A lot of people around ireland DONT and come to support a LOCAL , NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL issue.. DUH!! If Ireland were the size of turkey, brazil, america, canada, australia, russia, etc....MAYO / DUBLIN or MAYO / CORK would be in the same province. GET OVER IT! Is connamarra close enough??? Jesus

Occupying a site with no workers on it at the weekend??? oh ya, thats really disrupting things alright. What a pointless action and also a dangerous one. Are the people who occupied the site all holders of a safe pass? What if someone had got injured? Also, how many of them were locals? Wouldnt such time and effort be better spent at tara rather than on an idle site? Or is the party atmosphere that has been created in the rossport area too good to leave? Wakey wakey time!

Well done, another occupation is brilliant. Lets keep disrupting Shell all summer long.

At 10.06 there was little cop presence and a few security people. There were threats thrown about that the occupiers would be charged under sections 8 and 13 of the public order law and for also for refusing cop orders.

At 10.24 the group decided to leave. By this stage there were 12 cops, 1 van, an unmarked car, a segular car and 10 security guys. There was no work on site today but people got a good look around.

At 10.31 the group left the site without hassle. The cops had left, a few security walked them out but no force was used.
