Irish Writers Support the WGA

International Day of Support for the Writers Guild of America

The call to action

"When your kids want to know "Where were you in the great Writers Strike of 2007?" you'll be able to say that you walked the line with writers from all over the world in support of the principle that, if they use our work, we get paid for it and that, however modest, you contributed to the victory that's coming for our fellow writers in the Writers' Guild of America. "

Fifty writers braved the chilly November weather on Wednesday 29th of November to demonstrate support for their brothers and sisters in the USA who are campaigning for a fairer share of the revenues of movies and popular shows.

The writers marched from Temple Bar to the offices of Twentieth Century Fox and Sony Pictures in Dublin.

The event was co-ordinated by David Kavanagh of the IPSG.

I did like the writers against war group who supported the marches- it seemed more principled
cos it wasn't about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. yeah! Mr American accent in sunglasses, don't sell cheap.
I prefer the books not the movies.

This is a union deal well done for supporting fellow writers but a bit of political vocalism
would be nice and a lot of writers seem unable to take on things in this country unless it s got
to do with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
