Just got a copy of this in the post. it looks more like a book (123 pages) than a booklet.

Title "The Price of Our Souls - Gas, Shell and Ireland"
by Michael McCaughen
Published by Afri
Retails at 10 euro
I assume they will be stocked at Connolly Books if you want to check it out.

Back cover screed.....

"In a remote corner of Ireland, Shell is building a gas refinery and high pressure pipeline in a landscape of extraodinary beauty. In spite of popular opposition the project has been pushed through by a powerful alliance of state agencies, corporate influence and police pressure.

Meanwhile a major campaign has emerged and combined legal appeals with civil disobedience to challenge the project every step of the way.

Drawing on technical reports and extensive interviews with residents of the affected area, this book reveals the danger of the project and proposes an alternative solution.

The Corrib Gas Project has mobilised public opinion over issues of democratic rights, energy nationalism, community consent, globalisation and corporate power.

Michael McCaughen is a journalist and author based in the Burren, County Clare, who has written extensively for the irish Times and the Guardian on Latin American issues."

"A gripping read. I couldn't put it down"
Lorna Siggins, Irish Times

"Michael McCaughen writes about Latin America with contagious passion and profound insight. He is one of the finest journalists writing today"
Naoim Klein

"The meek shall inherit the earth but not the mineral rights"
John Paul Getty
