Scannal i bhForas na Gaeilge

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday March 01, 2008 15:44author by Madra Rua Report this post to the editors

Tá duine ar bhord Fhoras na Gaeilge agus é de chumhacht aici airgead stáit a bhronnadh ar a comhlacht féin. Tá meáin na Gaeilge ag diúltú an trasnaíl leasa seo a phlé.

Tá bord nua ar Fhoras na Gaeilge in oifig ó thús na bliana seo. Tá sé de chúram ar an bhForas foilsitheoireacht na Gaeilge a mhaoiniú. I measc na mball den bhord tá Caoilfhionn Nic Pháidín, duine den bheirt stiúrthóirí ar an gcomhlacht foilsitheoireachta Cois Life. Dúirt an ráiteas oifigiúil faoi cheapadh an bhoird gur “ceapadh ó Bhord na Leabhar Gaeilge le bheith ar bhord an Fhorais” í. Mar sin, is léir go mbeidh freagracht ar leith uirthi i dtaobh cúrsaí foilsitheoireachta.

Fágann sé seo go bhfuil cumhacht ag Nic Pháidín airgead stáit a bhronnadh ar a comhlacht féin. Ní hamháin sin, ach beidh cumhacht aici airgead a choinneáil ó chomhlachtaí eile atá in iomaíocht le Cois Life. Is trasnaíl leasa amach is amach é seo.

Tá litreacha scríofa chuig ‘Foinse’ agus ‘Lá Nua’ faoin scannal seo, ach tá diúltaithe acu na litreacha sin a chur i gcló. Ar ndóigh, tá na nuachtáin seo ag brath ar airgead Fhoras na Gaeilge chun maireachtáil. Tá feicthe againn gur cuireadh deireadh leis an iris ‘Comhar’ nuair a bhain an Foras a deontas di, agus gur cuireadh ‘Lá Nua’ i mbaol ar an gcaoi chéanna. Nuair nach mian leis na meáin seo a gcuid deontas a chur i mbaol, is deacair ceist mar seo a ardú.

I láthair na huaire, tá Foras na Gaeilge ag breithniú iarratais ar dheontais ó scríbhneoirí agus foilsitheoirí. Ina measc siúd a dhéanfaidh cinneadh orthu, tá Caoilfhionn Nic Pháidín. Beidh sí ag glacadh lán-pháirt sa phlé ar na hiarratais, agus beidh cumhacht aici vótáil i bhfabhar airgead a thabhairt do Chois Life, agus in aghaidh airgead a thabhairt d’fhoilsitheoirí eile.

Dá dtarlódh a leithéid ar aon bhord stáit eile, chuirfí binse fiosraithe ar bun. An bhfuil pobal na Gaeilge sásta glacadh le caighdeán níos ísle?

Nach bhfuil sé faoi iniúcóirí an Ard-chuntasóra Stáit agus faoi bhaill an choiste Dála cuí ceisteanna a chur.

Is dóigh go bhfuil nósanna imeachta ann cheana faoi mar a phléann baill de aon choiste lena "leasanna seachtracha" fhéin

Is mór an trua nach bhfuil ceisteanna mar seo pléite sna nuachtáin Ghaeilge nó ar TG4 féin, ach smaoinigh mar seo air.
Tá na meáin uilig, a bheag na a mhór, ceannaithe ag na húdaráis.
I bhfocail eile tá siad uilig ag brath ar na móreagraíochtaí Gaeilge do fhógraíocht agus maoiniú. Deir siad nach dtiocfadh leo mairstin gan sin.
Amharc an rud a bhí ag titim amach le Lá Nua an mhí seo caite.
Ní ag déanamh leithscéil do na meáin atá mé, mar creidim go bhfuil neamart iontach á dhéanamh nuair nach gclúdaíonn siad cruinnithe Bhord an Údaráis.
Ach sin mar atá siad agus níl Lá Nua nó Foinse, nó seomra nuachta TG4 ag dul an nós sin a bhriseadh.
Bhí an t-am ann agus bhí suíomh idirlín www.craiceailte.com ag déanamh jab a bhí go hiontach ag plé rudaí mar seo ach níl rud ar bith ag tarlú leis le dhá bhliain ar a laghad, agus ní fheicim comharba ar bith ag seasamh suas le áit craiceáilte a ghlacadh.
Mar sin de, coinnigh ort ag scríobh altanna mar seo ar indymedia, mar is cosúil gur seo an t-aon dóigh le dearcadh mar seo a chur trasna ar chor ar bith.

Tá ceist curtha sa Dáil faoin scannal seo ag Aengus Ó Snodaigh ar an Aire Éamon Ó Cuív. Níl a fhios agam an bhfuil freagra tugtha aige go fóill.

Aontaím go hiomlán le Daithí Lacha faoin rúndacht a bhaineann le hobair Údarás na Gaeltachta, agus an gá leis an obair sin a oscailt suas. Aontaím freisin le Puzzled gur beag an mhaith a dhéanann deontais an Údaráis don teanga go minic. (Agus, tar éis an rud a tharla le Contac 4 le seachtain anuas, is léir nach féidir brath ar na comhlachtaí seo ar chor ar bith.)

Ach bíonn na hargóintí seo le cloisteáil anois is arís. Tá a fhios ag daoine go bhfuil na rudaí seo ag tarlú, agus uaireanta pléitear iad sna meáin Ghaeilge. Admhaím nach bpléitear iad minic go leor, ach bíonn plé éigin orthu. An cheist seo faoi bhord Fhoras na Gaeilge, áfach, tá iarracht mhór ar siúl chun an scéal ar fad a cheilt. Níl iriseoirí na Gaeilge á fhiosrú. Níl nuachtáin na Gaeilge ag cur litreacha i gcló faoi. Tá na deontais mar laincis orthu, is cosúil. Déarfainn gurb é Indymedia an t-aon áit ar domhan atá ag plé na ceiste seo.

Tá an ceart ar fad ag Éamo faoi thábhacht na teanga, ar ndóigh. Chun a bheith cinnte go mbeidh sí beo, caithfear leabhair agus irisí i nGaeilge a bheith ar fáil don phobal. Ach mura gcuirimid stop leis an scannal seo, beidh cumhacht ag foilsitheoir Gaeilge amháin foilsitheoirí Gaeilge eile a ionsaí. Chonaiceamar cad a rinne an Foras do Comhar: ná ligimis dá leithéid tarlú arís.

FOCLÓIR
Ceilt - hiding. Fiosrú - investigation. Laincis - chain. Rúndacht - secrecy.

Udaras takes our tax money to give to businesses that create English-speaking call-centre jobs in the Gaeltacht, so that the workers can speak Irish when they are not speaking English...

I'm sure there's a logic somewhere in all that, but perhaps not at my expense.

Tá an scéal céanna amhlaidh in achan eagraíocht stáit a bhíonn ag plé leis an Ghaeilge.
Amharc, mar shampla, Údarás na Gaeltachta, a mbíonn cruinnithe rúnda acu nach bhfuil cead acu fuascailt caidé mar a chaitheann daoine a vóta ar rúin chonspóideacha.
Ní tharlaíonn sin i roinn ar bith eile den stát.
Cuirimse an locht ar na meáin Ghaeilge.
Ní amháin na páipéir Ghaeilge.
Cad chuige nach ndéantar craoladh ar chruinnithe an Údaráis mar a bhíonn ag an Oireachtas, Seanad agus Dáil Éireann?
Ansin bheadh a fhios ag daoine caidé a bhí ar bun ag na daoine ar vótáil siad dóibh.
Níl oscailteacht ar bith i gceist leis na heagraíochta stáit seo ar chor ar bith.
