This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

Mahmoud Salehi Released!

category international | worker & community struggles and protests | news report author Monday April 07, 2008 16:40author by pat c - Hands Off the People of Iran Report this post to the editors

The Committee in Defense of Mahmoud Salehi, have reported that Mahmoud Salehi, one of the most courageous labour leaders in Iran, was finally released on, Sunday, April 6, 2008 from the City of Sanandaj‘s central prison, where he had finished one-year jail term for his labour activities on March 23, 2008, but the authorities had refused to release him until today.

He was released on a 40 million toman ($40000) bail, a court in Sanandaj had issued a temporary arrest order for Mr. Salehi on March 17, 2008. Charges include outside prison contact by expressing solidarity with his supporters and the students while in jail.

International Alliance in Support of Workers in Iran said: Congratulation and many thanks to all labour, progressive and human rights’ organizations and activists who have supported Salehi and called for his freedom and that of other jailed labour activists.

Iranian Workers' Solidarity Network andWorkers' Action Committee (Iran) said: We take this opportunity to thank all those organisations and individuals who have been involved in the various campaigns working towards his release. Our work, however, is not finished. The court should pay back Mahmoud's bail - as his only 'crime' was organising a May Day rally in Saghez! We also need to carry on the struggle for the release of all trade unionists and labour activists in Iran!

More updates to follow soon.

Here is the latest news regarding Mansour Osanlou. Full text at link.

Mansour Osanlou, the imprisoned president of Tehran Bus Union was admitted to the Cardiac Care Unit of Labafinejad hospital in Tehran, on June 9, 2008, HR and Democracy Activists in Iran reported. Mr. Osanlou underwent eye surgery for the third time, recently. They said Mansour was handcuffed and guarded by armed security forces in the hospital at time of the surgery. The report says that the security forces intended to tie Mr. Osanlou’s hands and feet to the surgical bed by a handcuff but have dispensed with his opposition.

Mansour is still under intensive care while armed security forces do not leave his sight. Judiciary officials refuse to give Mansour Osanlou, medical leave, despite the Medical Examiner’s recommendations.

Mr. Osanlou’s mother has recently made two separate attempts to negotiate a possible medical leave for his son but failed. It is believed that Mansour Osanlou’s eye problem has deteriorated during the multiple and brutal investigations while in jail. He also suffers from skin problems.

Note: Vahed Syndicate’s website has posted a report from Human Rights Defending organization in Iran in which it says that medical and security officials of Evin prison have made an attempt on June 14, 2008 to transfer Mansour Osanlou to another Tehran hospital but faced strong opposition by Mr. Osanlo and the cardiac medical experts in Labafinejad hospital.

Here is an update regarding Mahmoud Salehi. Full text at the link.

In his first interview two days after his release from prison, Mahmoud Salehi told a report from Dastranj that the labour movement in Iran has been striving for achievement of its basic demands and that his activities during the past two decades have been for this purpose and despite many obstructions he has continued these activities for the realization of the working class goals and objectives. Salehi emphasized that such restrictions will not prevent or affect his efforts in defense of workers’ rights and demands.

It’s important to report that almost all progressive and labour organizations inside Iran and abroad have sent solidarity messages for Salehi’s freedom. His freedom was reported by many international news agencies, such as BBC and Deutsche Welle, as well as numerous progressive websites, including LabourStart which has been organizing numerous campaigns for Salehi’s and Osanloo’s freedom. Labour organizations and unions around the world, from Pakistan and Australia to Geneva have expressed their support and joy for Salehi’s release. The ITUC, ITF and Amnesty International, who have also been campaigning for the freedom of both Salehi and Osanloo, today welcomed the release of Mahmoud Salehi. The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Company have issued a solidarity statement for Salehi’s release, congratulating his freedom and expressing hope for the release of Mansour Osanloo, the president of the Vahed Syndicate, who has been in jail since July 2007 and sentenced to 5 year imprisonment.

We now need to redouble our efforts to ensure Osanloo is freed as soon as possible and that Salehi would stay outside prison and all charges against him fully withdrawn. Just today, two other members of the board of Vahed syndicate, Saeed Torabian and Mohammad Ebrahim Norouzi Gohari, were taken to the court regarding their union activities including the distribution of the union’s newspaper. They were freed subsequently and it’s not clear whether they would receive charges or not. These kinds of harassment and persecution of labour activists have become a routine form of control and repression.

Here is a statement from Amnesty and other campagners on the release of Mahmoud Salehi. Full text at the link.

The ITUC, ITF and Amnesty International today welcomed the release on Sunday from Sanandaj prison, in Iran’s Kuridstan Province, of independent labour activist Mahmoud Salehi, after one year of imprisonment. Salehi, one of the co-founders of the Bakery Workers Trade Union in Saqez, had been the object of strong international lobbying by the international trade union and human rights’ organisations since 2007, when the ITUC, ITF and Amnesty International launched a series of joint demonstrations and protests in front of Iranian embassies around the world.

The ITUC, ITF and Amnesty International express their satisfaction at Salehi’s release, but remind Iran’s authorities that Mahmoud Osanloo and other unjustly imprisoned trade unionists must be freed and all other threats of imprisonment against independent trade unionists for their legitimate activities be lifted. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is expected next month to examine a number of international trade union complaints lodged against the Iranian government for violations of the internationally-guaranteed right to form and join trade unions.
