2nd Annual Young Decision Makers Conference

category dublin | gender and sexuality | event notice author Tuesday July 01, 2008 11:52author by Rebecca Hurst - Irish Family Planning Association Report this post to the editors

The Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA) is holding the second annual ‘Young Decision Makers Conference’ in Dublin on the 4th July in Croke Park, for 100 people and would like to invite you, or any young people you know who might be interested, to take part.

The conference is also open to youth workers or people with a special interest in SRHR/sexual health issues or the needs of young people.

• Would you like to see better education, and more confidential services for young people in Ireland?
• Are you concerned that every minute 10 people are infected with HIV?
• Does the fact that the greatest cause of death for women aged between 15 and 19 is related to pregnancy, concern you?
• Do you acknowledge that lack of access to simple reproductive health supplies (e.g. condoms) is effectively increasing the spread of HIV and increasing risk of maternal death?
• Would you like to get your voice heard in decisions that affect you?
• Are you aged between 16 and 25?
If you answered yes to most of these questions then the IFPA need your help to make a difference.
The day will involve interactive workshops and talks on sexual and reproductive health and rights. It will look at both the national situation here in Ireland, specifically at access to services, and at the international situation with an international speaker.
The conference will also look at the use of the media in this field, and there will be interactive sessions so participants can learn how to use the tools that are so readily at their disposal to bring about change, and truly become young decision makers!
This is your chance to make a difference for yourself and for your peers here and abroad.
If you would like to get involved please email: Rebecca@ifpa.ie or call 01 8069444.

Please hurry because spaces are limited to 100!
