Gerry Adams' Address @ 90th Anniversary of An Chéad Dáil

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Thursday January 22, 2009 22:24author by Democratic Programme - Ógra SHinn Féinauthor email osfnational at yahoo dot ie Report this post to the editors

Sinn Féin Gerry Adams delivers a keynote address at the Mansion House Dublin, 90 years to the day when Sinn Féin TD's established the First Dáil Éireann in open defiance of British tyranny and laid out a progressive egalitarian document, the democratic programme, which stands as a cornerstone of republican beliefs.

Gerry Adams spoke of the importance of An Chéad Dáil, and reflected on current International matters like Gaza, and the election of Barack Obama.

He spoke of the failure of the Dublin governments to challenge partition and the inherent inequalities that come with it and urged everyone to act collectively to realise the ambitions and aspirations of the Sinn Féin deputies some 90 years ago. Watch the speech, in 3 parts and feel free to pass on.
