Unlike Jeremy Corbyn, Keir Starmer has never described Hezbollah as his friends. But other than that, when it comes to Israel there is now little of consequence to differentiate them, says Stephen Pollard.

Is the 'Muslim vote' set to abandon Labour? With three quarters of British Muslims refusing to believe Hamas committed atrocities on October 7th, it's hard to see how Labour can retain them, says Frank Haviland.

Boycott Israeli Goods Protest

category cork | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Sunday March 01, 2009 21:29author by Joe Moore - Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaignauthor email mapuche at eircom dot netauthor phone 0872994796 Report this post to the editors

A demonstration in support of the Boycott Israeli Goods campaign will be held at 1.00pm on Saturday 28th March in Daunt's Square, Cork. After an initial rally we will march to Tesco, Dunnes Stores and Marks and Spenser's to call on their management to cease stocking Israeli goods.

Despite a formal ceasefire the people of Gaza are still suffering at the hands of the Israeli government. Israel still controls the borders and is preventing essential supplies getting through. People are still dying as a result of the recent military offensive.

Israel is a colonial settler state built on the ruins of Palestine. As a colonial enterprise, it is dependent on the backing of imperial powers. In return it acts as imperialism's watchdog in the Middle East.

We in Ireland can play our part in defeating Israel and bringing peace and justice for the Palestinian people by boycotting Israeli goods. A similar campaign against apartheid South Africa helped in the dismantling of that regime.

How can people boycott Israeli products?

Boycott all grapefruit, oranges and lemons with the brand names Carmel and Jaffa
Always check peppers, fresh herbs and potatoes to make sure they have not been imported from Israel.
Boycott all plastic DIY and garden products made by a company called Keter.

The IPSC is calling on all friends of Palestine to attend the protest on Saturday 28th March at 1.00pm in Daunt's Square.

Israeli army spokesperson confirms that crowd dispersal methods include shooting children in the head with live ammunition. No farther explanation seems to be required for this action.

The IDF spokesman this week: "During an activity held by an IDF force in the village of Beit Omar, a violent disturbance developed, in which dozens of Palestinian youths stoned the force. The force retaliated with crowd dispersal measures and identified a hit of one of the stone throwers..."

Here is a rare brilliant piece in Israeli news papers Ynet.

Describes the reality involved in this simple act of soul-searching required by the Israeli people now if they want to face up to the responsibility of getting this captured soldier released in a transfer deal. It doesnt look good in the way that the Israeli government is shirking all angles possible.... but at least some people like this guy are still trying to be honest.

" Let's stop being heroes at Gilad's expense. In our collective memory, the terrorists' joy on the day of their release would be nothing compared to the excitement of the moment when we see Gilad getting out of the abductors' vehicle and running into his mother's arms. For a moment like that, any price is worthwhile. "

Israeli politicians propose a new round of human rights violations against both Gazans and imprisoned Palestinians after the failure of the outgoing Olmert government to free Captured soldier Gilad Shalit by taking the necessary steps.
Among the violations proposed are the collective punishment of Gazans by restricting supplies to the bombed enclave and also the collective punishment of prisoners held in Israel's jails.

=== Earlier Wednesday, the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel urged Minister Friedmann and Attorney General Mazuz to dissolve the special committee, and characterized any sanctions against Palestinian prisoners as "collective, unjust and illegal punishment." ===

Its not just in Gaza but throughout occupied Palestine that the violence against the indigenous people continues.
Under police protection gangs of immigrant settlers parade throught the old Streets of Jerusalem threatenting to carry out pogroms against the Arabs who have lived there for centuries.

" The settlers chanted “death to Arabs” and other racists slogans while marching in Arab markets and the alleys of the Old City. "

When international attention focuses on Gaza they switch activities to the Other areas of the occupation and ethnic cleansing :

" The settlers were marching in the city and chanting slogans against Arabs and Palestinians, calling for expelling them from the Holy City. "
