If you want to hurt Shell in Ireland- Boycottt Topaz

category mayo | consumer issues | news report author Wednesday April 29, 2009 13:23author by Topaz Ireland Watcher Report this post to the editors

Topaz is a Shell licensee

Although many people know that Topaz is a Shell licensee, that company has been quietly removing all mention of Shell from its websites and anywhere else that the public might see it.

However, as the brochure shows, Topaz is a Shell licensee.

Many people are concerned about the Shell company's activities in Ireland.

Their employment of right wing mercenaries to act as security guards at their building site, their dealings with politicians found by the tribunals to be "corrupt", and their appalling actions in using the courts to intimidate those who stand in their way, and when that fails using violence to try and do the same, have reminded many of Shell in Nigeria.

Since the 1990's and the murder of Ken Saro Wiwa and the Ogoni Eight among many others killed by Shell in Nigeria, people around the world have boycotted the company.

The boycott grew with the jailing of the Rossport Five in 2005.

However, since last year the Shell brand has been disappearing from the Irish retail landscape. It has been replaced in many places by the friendly logo of Topaz Energy.

Topaz Energy is a licensee of Shell. All their petrol products are sourced from Shell.

If you spend money at a Topaz forecourt- it goes to Shell.

Make no mistake- if you want to hurt Shell in Ireland, you should boycott Topaz.
