Whats the email address? I sent an email a few months ago to lmkdioc@indigo.ie on formally leavinng the church and didnt get a reply?
I had a lot of respect for priests in Limerick until today when they came out in support of Donal Murray
The bishop has a group of 80 friends, who think he should stay on,,,,,but should he be judged by his friends or by the victims of abuse, (and their friends and family) , who suffered while he did nothing.
Anyone who does nothing, while the weak are abused, should hang their heads in shame.
If that person, was in a position of influence at that time, then they are not fit leaders, (then or now).
Self preservation, (of their title) is not a valid excuse.
Despicable.
To be associated with this organisation is embarassing.
This is not a request for his "head on a plate",,,,,that would involve his prosecution for criminal negligence. Just resign.
And his failings were not confined to Dublin either,,,,,remember Peter McCloskey, RIP,,,,,for one
I agree with your sentiments and can understand how ordinary catholics feel let down by these bishops. The fact that these bishops can live in palaces and actually call them palaces while so many poor people are homeless seems cruel and insensitive . Is it possible to shame them ?
The Irish Times article is by Patsy McGarret the paper's religious affairs corresspondent . Really shouldn't the Times crime correspondent be doing the writing.
It is unbelievable
in every facet of Irish life people at the top seem to have no comprehension of what "responsibility" means.
bankers still feel they are entitled to .6 million salaries
politicians expect us to have faith in their abilities, despite their atrocious failings
bishops feel that they can learn from their mistakes and carry on regardless
over the years ,judges, councillors, gardai,,,,is there any aspect of irish society that has not been rife with corruption and corrupt people
My dad was with the boy scouts from Blackrock College, Dublin and remembers Donal Murray (who was also with them at the time) as a repugnant sarcastic git!
