Irish recession - Is the worst over?

category national | anti-capitalism | other press author Tuesday February 23, 2010 18:37author by Socialist - Socialist Party Report this post to the editors

New analysis of the Irish economic crisis

In a new three part article, Paul Murphy examines the claim that the worst is over for the Irish economy, highlighting some of the key pitfalls that will face the Irish economy in the coming years

The first part, focusing on the international backdrop and the strategy of Irish capitalism, has now been published online here: http://www.socialistparty.net/index.php/news/economy/34....html.

The second part will investigate the claim that Ireland can export its way into economic growth as well as describe some of the major problems facing the southern economy – the drag that rising unemployment will exercise on the economy and the prospect of a major debt crisis. The final part will critique the recovery scenarios offered by the establishment and examine the political consequences of the bleak economic outlook.
