The Short:
The Sweeney Mongrel (Le Cirk)
Dame St / Dame Lane , Dublin 2
Saturday 1st May 9pm - €3

First Floor : Eric Noon & The Future Gypsies
Mute Fish

Sara Gleeson

Ground Floor : Martin Ansbro (Go Fish / Honest to Goodness)

The Long:

On the first floor it's all about live music. Singer/songwriter Sara Gleeson will be giving you a taste of her debut EP. Irish/Polish/Ukrainian maestros Mutefish set it off with their Balkan Folk Fusion. Energetic four piece Town Criers will be rocking it out with crunchy guitars and anthemic choruses. And if you're not up and loving it by then Eric Noon & The Future Gypsies play a fresh new sound inspired from a mix of alternative, traditional, reggae, and soul music with lyrics in English, Spanish , French and Basque.

On the ground floor Martin Ansbro (Go Fish / Honest to Goodness) and Bootnik (Little Saturdays / Dublin Beat Club) will be playing the classics of old school Funk, Soul, Disco and nu-school re-edits.

JCCI (Jamaican Caribbean Communities in Ireland) and JamCarib takeover the basement with CrazyD & Guests spinning the best in Ska , Reggae , Dancehall , Calypso , Zouk & Soca.

A spokesperson for LMHR said ‘’LMHR is a non profit collective and does not receive any funding private or public. So from time to time we do have fundraisers which in turn allow us to continue our work. Events in Sligo and Galway have taken place since we started last year, and Cork, Limerick and Waterford are in the pipeline. We’re also happy to see event’s happening outside Dublin’s city centre in such places as Clondalkin. It shows that members of the public and musicians alike are hearing a call to do what they can to oppose racism. There are no small parts in fighting racism. And we are really proud to see so many people coming together and so many events happening. Our music is living testimony to the fact that cultures can and do mix. It unites us and gives us strength, and offers a vibrant celebration of our multicultural and multiracial society. Racism seeks only to divide and weaken us, and events like this give people who wouldn’t normally mix the opportunity to come together under the same roof for the love of music.’’

It all kicks of around 9pm on Saturday 1st May at Sweeney’s on Dame St/Dame Lane and Admission is €3
And all proceeds go to LMHR’s national campaign to create awareness on racism through musical events.
