Dublin - IPSC Boycott Action Targetting Veolia

On Saturday 12th, at 12pm, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign will be taking to streets at the LUAS terminal at St Stephen’s Green to highlight the complicity of Veolia, the operators of the LUAS and tenderers for the Dublin Metro North contract (as part of Transdev, with Israel’s apartheid regime. Veolia is involved in the building of the illegal light rail project in occupied East Jerusalem, operating bus services for Israel’s colonial settlers in the occupied territories and the Tovlan land fill in the Jordan Valley. The IPSC aims, as part of the international campaign against Veolia, to convince it to divest from its interests in Israel.

This is part of a Boycott Day of Action called by the Irish Anti War Movement – others will be meeting at the Spire at 12pm and targeting retailers selling Israeli goods.

Dr David Landy, Chairperson of the IPSC, said: “Veolia is a small but important part of the Israeli matrix of control in Palestine. It is victory we believe we can win, and until Veolia unequivocally divests from Israel, the IPSC and other international groups will continue to campaign to have Veolia excluded from contracts. We are meeting with the Rail Procurement Agency this Monday to discuss Veolia/Transdev’s tender for the Dublin Metro North contract, and we will be arguing that they be excluded on the basis complicity in Irsaeli human rights abuses. We also expect anti-Veolia motions - similar to ones in Dublin, Sligo and Galway - to pass in South Dublin and Fingal county Councils in the coming weeks.”
