As part of the IPSC's Week of Solidarity Against Apartheid Walls in Palestine and Against the Siege of Gaza, the IPSC in association with Viva Palestina and The Workshops Collective are proud to host a film screening and public meeting with Evie Soli and Pete St. John-Jones (activists from the from the International Solidarity Movement in Bil'in), Ger Cassidy (Viva Palestina) and David Landy (Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign). They will be screening the documentary 'Bassem Abu Rahmah - Story of a Martyr'. As part of their National Congress, Ógra Shinn Féin are hosting a public talk titled; ‘Ireland’s Future? Free, Green and Left’. The public talk is open to everyone and will be held upstairs in the Felons Club, Falls Road, Belfast on Saturday 14th November at 3pm sharp. The speakers include Eoin O’Broin from Sinn Féin, Steven Agnew of the Green Party and Donal Lyons, from Labour. The BBC have offered the BNP a platform on Question Time. The far-right BNP won 2 seats in the recent European elections. This party is attempting to develop a respectable image, but their core is out-right fascism. Their founder called Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ his ‘Bible’ and Nick Griffin, the current leader, regularly denied the Holocaust. read full story / add a comment

The Don’t Extradite the Basques Campaign is urging all those who support civil rights to join a protest next Monday against the Spanish government’s attempt to extradite Belfast-based Basque activists Iñaki de Juana and Arturo Beñat Villanueva. The Don't Extradite the Basques Campaign has welcomed the news this week that the petition against the extradition to Spain of Belfast-based Basque pro-independence activists Iñaki de Juana and Arturo Beñat Villanueva now has more than 1,000 signatories from Ireland, Britain, the Basque Country, Spain and around the world, including elected representatives, human rights campaigners, lawyers, academics and community leaders. read full story / add a comment

The DUP’S Sammy Wilson has recently accused anti racism groups of exaggerating the scale of racism to access public funding. Mr Wilson stated that ‘these charges of racism were always coincided with the holding out of the hand for more money for the organisations which were dealing with the issue’ and referred to the situation as ‘an anti racism industry’. read full story / add a comment

The Don't Extradite the Basques Campaign held a very successful conference on political persecution in the Basque Country on Saturday August 8 in An Chultúrlann in west Belfast as part of the annual Féile an Phobail (Festival of the People). Julen Arzuaga, a lawyer from Behatokia, the Basque Observatory of Human Rights, travelled from the Basque Country to speak at the conference, which also heard from Iñaki de Juana and Arturo Beñat Villanueva, two Belfast-based Basque activists who are fighting extradition charges by the Spanish government. Colleen Gildernew from Kevin Winters Solicitors, the firm representing both men, outlined the legal efforts to defeat the extradition charges.
