There is fear and loathing in the vegetable patch. The greens are nervous and restive. Inclement environmental conditions have sapped their once bright emerald hue leaving them looking pale and sickly. But worse is to come.

Rumours abound of an army of ravenous caterpillars waiting to crawl all over them and expected to do so on June 5th. The greens know the consequences. Their once succulent leaves shredded, what beckons is a humiliating journey to the compost heap.

Greens, however, have strong survival instincts and so they are desperately trying to stave off the evil day. ‘I’m off to Tralee,’ Twittered Senator Dan Boyle, ‘ to say something controversial.’ That something was a call for the renegotiation of their Programme for Government with Fianna Fail. read full story / add a comment

This Sunday (24th May), the Socialist Party candidate in the Dublin Euro Election Campaign, Joe Higgins, will be doing a live online video Q&A session, to give people throughout Dublin the chance to directly ask him questions. Starting at 5pm, he will be answering questions as they come in, live on video through his website . To watch the video, or ask a question people simply have to log on at 5pm.

An independent candidate submitted his nomination papers today along with a solicitors letter protesting at the returning officers demand that the candidate must use the term ‘non-party’ which he, the candidate, believes contravenes his constitutional rights.
Mr. Erik Eblana, 40, from Ranelagh is running for a seat on Dublin City Council in the Pembroke-Rathmines constituency.

The first, the black and red one, is solely focused on the Euro campaign and has been distributed around the city by volunteers. Yesterday the unionist parties of the Spanish state of both ruling leftwing PSOE and rightwing opposition PP, who have never agreed on anything other than pay-rises, united to elect the leader of the Basque branch of the PSOE as first minister of the Euskadi region for their loyalist commitment to the project the PP saw a young up and coming member (before only noteworthy for her thoughts on condoms [she'd never use one]) appointed speaker of the Basque parliamentary house. The Lehendakari (taoiseach) of the last ten years of the PNV majority centre right nationalist party who have always held the post thus passes into history. read full story / add a comment
