On 14th October 2017, Rally for Choice will march through the streets of Belfast. - Last year saw us counter protest the Rally for Life in the North of Ireland, for the first time we marched against their lies instead of our usual static demo. Our counter protest was a huge success, despite being organised at short notice and with only a handful of activists. Anybody who wants to show their support for the proposed segregated Liffey Cycle Route are asked to cycle from the Phoenix Park to the Docklands this Sunday.

The cycle is ahead of the Dublin City Council transport committee meeting later this month which is expected to deal with choosing Option 7 which keeps the cycle route on the quays or Option 8 which diverts cycling into a boardwalk and add a number of conflicts with pedestrians. This year the 11th(!) Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign Sponsored Walk will take place on Sunday 1st October 2017 - starting at 12 noon.

This year we will be taking one of the loop paths on a ramble around Enniskerry and its environs in Co. Wicklow. We will be setting off from the Monument in Enniskerry Town Centre, and finishing up with a meal and some liquid sustenance back in Enniskerry. The walk will take us on a ramble around the beautiful Enniskerry area including to an abandoned church where we'll stop for a spot of lunch. As part of the National Heritage Week, the Old Dublin Society will present a talk on Watson’s Nursery 1884-1967: From Clontarf to Killiney on Wednesday, August 23rd in Dublin City’s Library & Archive, 138 Pearse Street, Dublin 2 at 6pm. The talk will be given by Mrs. Bernardine Ruddy, President of the Old Dublin Society - the premier history society for Dublin and Dubliners established in 1934. Till its closure in 1967, Watson’s Nursery had a high profile in the world of horticulture. It was synonymous with quality and reliability with shops in Nassau Street and enjoyed an extensive mail order business at home and abroad. The move from Clontarf was due to being landlocked by the railway line and open sea. And so the move to Killiney was accomplished by 1920 and enabled them to enlarge their business. Now the Watson family name is perpetuated in the naming of the roads and avenues in Killiney, Co. Dublin forever more.

This demonstration today is to call for a BOYCOTT of goods from China and to appeal to the Ireland-Chinese Business Association to condemn all barbarity to dogs including Irish Greyhounds in China.We ask them to speak out on behalf of the tortured souls who are not protected by any Chinese legislation as none exists.We need their help to support change.This cannot be ignored any longer by businesses trying to entice Irish-Chinese trade links. Stop turning a blind eye to unacceptable practices that have been exposed. Many Irish people are horrified by how dogs are treated.

Many Ex- Racing dogs have been shipped from Ireland to China, a country where dogs are routinely being boiled alive. The Irish Government have stood idly by as the IGB condone the export of ex- racing dogs. Many of the Irish dogs are ultimately at risk of being boiled alive in China for the meat trade. The Chinese don't care, the Irish Government don't care, The IGB couldnt care less either or they would not be allowing this.

We urge a boycott of all travel to China and ask the Irish people to shun all Chinese goods and services until this injustice is stopped.
