Kicking off in Limerick city, the campaign will tour across Munster during the month of November and will visit Shopping centre’s, clothing stores, art and design colleges and much more, of course our tour would not be complete without us inviting the media along, every step of the way!

12 years to the day since the executions of Ken Saro-Wiwa, Baribor Bera, Saturday Dobee, Nordu Eawo, Daniel Gbokoo, Barinem Kiobel, John Kpuinen, Paul Levura and Felix Nuate at Port Harcourt Nigeria at the behest of Shell, activists will once again gather at the headquarters of Shell Ireland to lay a wreath and remember the brave campaign for justice that led to these nine innocent men being hanged.

Sister Majella McCarron of Ogoni Solidarity Ireland will say a few words and there will be the first Irish screening of a short film on the trial of Saro Wiwa- "Don't Let Shell Kill Again".

The Iraq Freedom Congress held its First Convention last week in Kirkurk. The IFC opposes both the Occupation of Iraq and the the sectarian Militias. The IFC slogans are "No Shiite ... No Sunni… ours is humanitarian identity" and "No to the occupation ... No to the sectarian gangs"

On October 21, 2007 the first Convention of Iraq Freedom Congress was held in the city of Kirkuk, attended by many elected delegates who came from different provinces and cities of Iraq (Basra, Nasiriyah, Shatrah, Diwaniyah, Kut, Hashemite, Suwayrah, Numaniyah, Kifl, Hillah, Alexandria, Baghdad, Samarra, Tikrit, Bejee, Mosul and Kirkuk). The delegates were able to reach the conference hall despite the serious danger they could have faced on their way and the collapse of the security situation, such as booby-trapped cars, bombs and sectarian gangs. read full story / add a comment

An member of the WSM and the Turkish anarchist organization AKI look at the crisis in Turkey, a crisis pushed further into the spotlight since this article was written by the threats to invade Iraqi Kurdistan. Turkish politics are full of contradictions and paradoxical situations. But the bottom line is that both the “democratic” political Islam as well as the “authoritarian” army are elite alternatives opposed to the basic interests of workers, that have agreed on the fundamentals and will likely keep agreeing in maintaining the repressive political structures of the Kemalist state, read full story / add a comment

Yesterday, Galway Food Not Bombs in its ongoing campaign to attenuate the slaughter and war mongering of this world fed people for free in Shop street rather than murdered them with bombs. However, based on Fareed Zakaria opinion, next Sunday's banner will read; Tranquillisers Not Bombs : "the American discussion about Iran has lost all connection to reality. . . . Iran has an economy the size of Finland's. . . . It has not invaded a country since the late 18th century. The United States has a GDP that is 68 times larger and defense expenditures that are 110 times greater. Israel and every Arab country (except Syria and Iraq) are . . . allied against Iran. And yet we are to believe that Tehran is about to overturn the international system and replace it with an Islamo-fascist order? What planet are we on?." http://counterpunch.org/moayedian10272007.html

The Dutch government have decided to ban shroom sales. But at least one hundred people gathered to save them Saturday last carrying colourful shroomie messages "When will they ban bread?" and "Boss of your own brain", they thus vowed to go on doing whatever it is they do to their brain.

Amongst marchers were included the weighty psychedelic Arno Adelaars who criticised foreign tourists for getting pissed up on beer, gawking at prostitutes, stuffing their faces with hash cake & then thinking that's the time for a dose of psilicybin. Quite right. I agree. Rather than banning the shrooms they should ban the tourists. read full story / add a comment
