President Bush was quick to praise Yasser Arafat's pledges of reforms and elections to the Palestinian Legislative Council. My guess is that the administration didn't actually read a translation of Arafat's long-winded speech. Yes, Arafat took "full responsibility" for any mistakes he has made. Yes, he called for political reforms by his Palestinian Authority. Yes, he pledged to hold new elections. Yes, he even held out the possibility of establishing peace with Israel. The residents of Ballyfermot held a protest march through Dublin's city centre today at 11:00am. The group gathered outside the Garden of Rememberance on Parnell Square at 10:45 and then proceeded to march down O'connell St. and through the city. At the moment the strike is spreading fast. At the end of May the university of Essen joined the strike and early this week the universities of Cologne, Siegen and Trier also voted for a strike. Just to let everybody know that there is a general strike in the Spanish State on the 20th so there wont be any public transport or basically anyway of getting from a to b unless you have previously arranged plans. Anyone coming down Biarritz way will be met by a general strike in the Basque country on both the 19th and 20th. read full story / add a comment
