The People's Movement and the Peace and Neutrality Alliance are holding a conference on The EU - the Military Dimension.

Speakers include Tony Bunyan of Statewatch, Frank Slijper of the Dutch Campaign Against the Arms Trade and Filipe Ferreira of the Portuguese Council for Peace & Cooperation and the World Peace Council

The People's Movement and the Peace and Neutrality Alliance are holding a conference on The EU - the Military Dimension

This will take place at the Ireland Institute, 27 Pearse Street, Dublin 2 on Friday, Saturday, 15th -16th November 2013

The Friday session is from: 7:30pm to 9:30pm
The Saturday session is from 10.45am to 5.00pm

The Speakers are:

Tony Bunyan is the Director of Statewatch which monitors the state
and cilvil liberties in Europe. See: www.statewatch.org

Frank Slijper is a Senior Researcher of the Dutch Campaign Against
the Arms Trade which researches the European Arms industry. See: www.stopwapenhandel.org

Filipe Ferreira is a Member of the national executive of the
Portuguese Council for Peace & Cooperation and the World Peace
Council and its regional ccordinator

Filipe traveled to Dublin to make a presentation in the Pearse Centre at the Conference entitled The EU - The Military Dimension
Filipe Ferreira’s paper at the Conference simply blew open apart the myth that the EU is a force for peace in the World. He regaled us with facts and figures regarding the growth of the war industry in the EU, and his anecdotal tales from his trip to war-torn Syria illuminated a situation that is far more complex than the simple narrative we receive from the mainstream press: the “goodies” (united coalition of “rebels”) versus the “baddy” (the power-hungry, brutal, authoritarian leader)
