IRSP Condemn PSNI/RUC Raids

The IRSP condemn without reservation the totally unwarranted searches
of Teach na Failte and Republican Socialist offices and homes of our
workers in Belfast and Strabane.

These searches are little more than a politically motivated fishing
exercise and an attempt by the PSNI/RUC to blacken the good name of
Teach na Failte, a well respected former prisoners association whose
work is mostly welfare based plus a conflict transformation and
resolution project for ex-prisoners and their families.

IRSP spokesperson Paul Little said: "The nature of these searches by
the PSNI was aggressive, with doors being smashed down and disabled
TnF project officer Eddie McGarrigle from Strabane, who is
confined to a wheelchair, was thrown out of it by the PSNI and left
lying on the floor.

"There is absolutely no justification for these raids or their violent
nature. The PSNI have demonstrated once again that they are not a new
beginning to policing but rather a new politically motivated
paramilitarist force that excels in all the bad traits of the RUC.

"New uniform, same old story."

The individual complaining about not being able to sell INLA merchandise is not a member of the IRSM.

That said, I am curious about what anonymous government agency is responsible, as they apparently take no interest in loyalist or other republican merchandise sold on eBay.

If, it has a good name- you should at least spell it properly i.e Teach na Fáilte.

The smashing down of doors and especially throwing a disabled man out of his wheelchair leaving him lying on the floor is despicable.
For what it's worth, I support your condemnation of it

"throwing a disabled man out of his wheelchair leaving him lying on the floor is despicable."

This is a standard comment. Every single time you see the IRA and its like complain about the police they use the same line.

Where else have you seen the words I used and which you quote: "throwing a disabled man out of his wheelchair leaving him lying on the floor is despicable"?
Can you show links or quote references to substantiate your claim that the the IRA have often used these words? Who exactly are you referring to, when you write about "the IRA and their likes?"

You say these words of mine are "a standard comment". Let me assure you that this was my comment, made by me, not copied from a "standard".

Are you suggesting that the comment itself is wrong?. Is it your own opinion that throwing a disabled man out of his wheelchair, leaving him lying on the floor is OK? "Standard" practice, maybe? Or are you suggesting that if a comment is made by a source which you think (wrongly in this case) is "the IRA and its likes" it has no validity?

Stick to the substance of the comment please if you are disagreeing with it and don't fall into the fallacy of "argumentum ad hominem".

The raids in question were carried out in October 2005, when an investigation was in progress into the death of Mary Reid. It is believed that Mary was abducted as she left her workplace in Derry city at 10.00 am on the morning of 29th January 2003. Mary's body was discovered on a beach in County Donegal at 5.30pm that evening. It is my opinion that the lack of an investigation by the Gardai in Donegal at the time of Mary's death was to protect the identity of an informer inside the ranks of the Derry INLA/ IRSP.
