The sweeping House of Commons reforms proposed by Green MP Ellie Chowns are evidence that the Mrs Dutt-Pauker types have moved from Peter Simple's columns into public life. We're in for a bumpy ride, says Sean Walsh.

Ambassador John Bolton Lies about Iraq Attack

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Monday May 01, 2006 01:53author by Trish Schuh - UN Headquarters Report this post to the editors

No accountability as US lays groundwork for next atrocities in Iran

The United Nations Security Council, under heavy US-Israeli pressure- finds Iran noncompliant to the NPT. The next Security Council resolution will include a 'chapter 7' option which allows military attack on Iran. The fuse is lit.

UNITED NATIONS-April 28, 2006 We're getting mugged again with the same smoking gun. No matter that the gun has repeatedly backfired. The Bush adminstration and its neocon puppeteers are using the same methods and ammunition on Iran as they did on Iraq- along with the same sell-out media to publicize their cause. Bolton warns that "UN credibility is on the line". But it is the US that has no credibility. Do we honor the Rule of Law, or the law of the jungle enforced by the biggest bully?

Outside the UN Security Council Chamber, I spoke to John Bolton on the issue:

QUESTION: You talk quite often of the credibility of the UN and it seems-

BOLTON: -and so has Secretary Rice recently.

QUESTION: Yes, and Rice has as well. But that seems to work in your favor when they(UN) do what you want them to do. But you violated the UN Charter when you went to war against Iraq and you consistently lied to us about the reasons that we went to war. This war policy was drawn up in Herzliya, Israel in 1996 via the Project for a New American Century. What credibility do you have other than that based on having the biggest guns?

BOLTON: Can I ask what media outlet you're from?

ANSWER: Muslims Weekly.

BOLTON: We did not violate the UN Charter in the war to overthrow Saddam Hussein and that plan was not drawn up in Herzliya for the Project for a New American Century.

I then tried to ask a followup question about US violations of UN Charter & ICJ when the US issued numerous threats to nuke Iran. This bully refused to address the issue and tried to turn the other reporters against me by claiming I wouldnt let them ask questions when I repeated my question. But most domestic media present were full accessories to the lies, not challenging his misinformation or omissions. (Or maybe they are too busy with their latest "perv-of the-week" sex scoop as Ted Turner calls it). One shellacked-wig reporter even scolded me for not being diplomatic. Maybe she should get her plastic, phony self to Iraq where US-style diplomacy has come to fruition. She might learn why international law is not just to make war.

Ahmadinejad. Certainly a Muslim Weekly reporter would get clearance to attend the Iranian leader's rant and rave sessions... whereby a western reporter would be forbidden. It would be refreshing to have some candid questions put to him about Iran (and Islam's) treatment of women, execution of homosexuals, its genocidal stance towards Israel, the rigging of its elections etc. As a Muslim reporter you would have a unique opportunity to try to uncover the truth, or at least ask questions of any sort at all. I suppose I wouldn't blame any sane reporter for not embarassing the Iranian dictator - pursuing this line of questioning would probably be the brave reporter's final living act before being dragged out and hung or stoned to death for treason or subverting Islam.
