A month after the arrival of Scotland's Hate Crime Act and it appears reports of the demise of the Scottish Enlightenment may have been premature, no thanks to the SNP but due to the doughty spirit of the Scots.

Should governments be able to censor online content for the entire world? That's what Australia is claiming the right to do. But do they really think China and Russia should be able to choose what the world sees?

category antrim | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Friday September 14, 2007 20:51author by Ciarán Ó Brolcháin - Shell chun Sáile Béal Feirsteauthor email shelltoseabelfast at gmail dot com Report this post to the editors

Belfast Shell to Sea organised a picket of the Shell station in Andersonstown today in solidarity with the national mobilisation in Bellanaboy in Mayo.

Over a dozen activists took part in the picket and distributed leaflets to passing motorists and pedestrians, and received a lot of honking from cars showing their support. Despite it taking place during rush hour and the road being extremely busy, the forecourt of the station was left deserted for most of the time the picket was on.

Well done again to our friends in the North. All solidarity actions are much appreciated in our once-quiet corner of Ireland; they are a constant reminder that none of us fight alone.

Sept. 14 th started out with being stopped by garda and order me to open my boot, I asked the garda what right and what was he looking for, he stated wepons of mass protest and searched everwhere, even in my CD player, what a bunch of assholes that they said that my lug wrench (which is small) was a wepon, I then went up to the protest gate and took a few photos, sat down like we were going to do. After some great speeches; the garda line up and started their pushing and shoving, condensing people, to show up to their leader Supt Joey Gannon that they were in charge, in charge of what ? 250 people siting down for a protest, arn't they great hurting young girls on national tv. So let me get this right , over 200 garda show up to let less than 6 or 7 trucks in to dump a few rocks and they call this a victory for the people of who work for some contractor for shell, I can not comprehend all this shell shit-head PR working for shell; Did you see John Eagen on the tv, he stated that most the protesters were from far away, shit he lives all the way over in Castlebar so what the fuck is wrong with him. People can come from all over the world to work for S/hell in Ballinaboy but people who are concerned about the enviroment are told to fuck off you don't live here. This guy is such a fucken PR lick arss worken for shell. Finally peolpe can see right though all the bulshit, this project is one of the most corupt in the whole history of this island and people know it's wrong. No where else in the free world would this happen.
