Day-to-day weather, with all its extremes, is "just weather", according to the IPCC. With their authority onside, we can shrug off the BBC's melodramatic climate reports and misinformation, says Mark Ellse.

The world is poisoned with US militarism, Galway Food Not Bombs strives to be one of its antidotes?

category galway | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Monday October 22, 2007 13:04author by Fan O' Ri - Galway Food Not Bombs Report this post to the editors

"The US is still a country run by leaders who brandish, celebrate and use the massive violent capabilities of the Pentagon as a matter of course.(Norman Solomon, author of: Made Love, Got War)

Yesterday, Galway Food Not Bombs were at it again in Shop Street, this time beneath the shelter of green canvas, sporting a freshly painted flourescent banner and augmented with three new activists.

From our tentative start some months back, we are now riding the crest of a wave of goodwill; from the city's Community Wardens who no longer harrass us, to the plethora of shops who, in empathy, donate not unsubstantial amounts of food to us every Saturday evening.

Our initial two hour stint has gradually stretched, so that yesterday we spent four-and -a- half hours behind the field kitchen, buoyed by a constant stream of favourable comments from the public and heartened to do the same, even more so, next Sunday.

Well done, FNB, keep up the good work. As Howard Zinn says, every small act is important (with a slight paraphrase).

Time to go stick this on our school's Social Action Notice Board.
