Britain's North Sea could have 14 billion barrels of oil and gas ? three times what the Government reckons ? but sky-high taxes and drilling bans are leaving it in the ground while jobs and cash go begging.

Now he's dead, the truth about Purple Aki can finally be said, says Steven Tucker. A forerunner of all the sex-offending migrants that judges make excuses for, he targeted children in Liverpool for decades.

Hands Off the People of Iran (HOPI) November Teach-In

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Wednesday October 31, 2007 14:21author by Anne McShane - Hands Off the People of Iran Report this post to the editors

Press Release

Hands Off the People of Iran (HOPI) November Teach-In

As the war drums beat ominously and an attack on Iran seems inevitable, an important campaign is being built in Ireland. HOPI stands with the Iranian people, not the Iranian government. We totally oppose the Bush war-drive and at the same time speak out and publicise the current crackdown by the Iranian government on both dissidents and ordinary Iranian people.

HOPI is holding a Teach-In in Dublin on 10 November to inform and discuss the situation and building solidarity.

Themes include:

1. Anti Imperialism.

Chair: Deirdre Clancy.

Imperialist strategy and the threat of war

Recent struggles in Iran, including film footage

The nature of the Iranian regime and the recent crackdown

2. Solidarity

Chair: Des Derwin.

Trade Union rights, strikes and solidarity

Sexual freedom and gay rights

HOPI Ireland will host speaker Yassamine Mather, a leading Iranian oppositionist.

The teach-in will take place the Teacher's Club, 36 Parnell Place, Dublin on Saturday, November 10 from 12.30 to 6pm.

Yassamine Mather will be available for interview.

I travelled to the UK via shannon a week ago . On the outward leg the departure lounge was awash with US military personnel . They were buying stuff ; I'm told this means they were heading home from iraq . As we were taking off I noticed a marked US military aircraft parked up . This was mid-afternoon . On the return trip i was heading from the plane to the terminal building when i saw upwards of a hundred US military holed up in what looked like a glass holding cage . They knew they looked liked caged animals and were playing up to this accordingly .

It would seem that 'normalisation' of the US in Shannon is under way . It was sickening . This country has just swopped one imperial master for another . This country's leaders are accomplices in an armed robbery . And no doubt when the call comes from washington they will help to kill iranians too .

1916 might as well never have happened. Shame on them and their 'republican' party .
Even more shame on the Greens with their fig-leaf support of such people .
