AIMS Ireland is delighted to announce a joint committee meeting and seminar day with AIMS UK which will take place on September 25th at the Teachers' Club, Parnell Square, Dublin 1. All AIMS members are most welcome to attend the committee meeting at 10 am. This will be followed at 11 am by a public seminar comprising presentations, discussions and a workshop, all focusing on the key issue of consent in maternity care.

The availability of information and consent continues to be a complex and problematic feature of women’s experiences in maternity care, both in Ireland and elsewhere. The aim of this event is to raise awareness of different aspects of consent and to stimulate reflection and discussion between midwives, student midwives, birth activists, service users, women’s groups, and all others who are committed to supporting women’s needs and rights during labour and birth.

Speakers will include Krysia Lynch, Co-Chair, AIMS Ireland, Mary Kirwan, Barrister & Journalist, Beverley Beech, Hon. Chair, AIMS UK, and Dr. Jo Murphy-Lawless, School of Nursing & Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin.

There is a fee of €15 (€10 for students and members) for the seminar to cover costs of this event. Payment can be made upon registration. Since places will be limited, pre-registration is recommended.

Please email info@aimsireland.com or Chair@aimsireland.com for pre-registration form and a programme of the day's events.

We hope to see you there!

Kind Regards,

The AIMS Ireland Team
