I am suspicious of joining groups. I go to meetings, help out a spectrum of different groups when I can and turn up for demonstrations / marches / protests whenever possible.
I as an individual, am asking the people starting up this group exactly what it is that differentiates the group from IPSC. I am already spread thin and I would like to know if there is a concrete reason why I should go along and give you some of my limited energies and time as opposed to giving that time to others..
Please, no subterfuge. Just a straight answer. If there is a good reason such as logical sharing and splitting of specific currently unmanageable tasks into modular co-ordinated and co-operating units then fine, just explain to me.
thanks

A genuine answer to questions asked might win people over to your perspective. A copy and paste that is already available on a website tends more to get peoples backs up.
In my own case I bear no animosity towards Act. I have posted out details of Wednesdays demo on 3 activist lists and I have highlighted it on the Indy Events page.
when the shit hits the fan here, they'll turn the army on us. why else do you think we have one? Nobody except the english could be arsed invading this rock. Anyway they already have our natural resources (fish, gas) because our stupid corrupt politicians gave them all away.
our irish government bought millions of euros worth of military weaponry we simply do not need as a nation,we are part of the EU,what are we doing, wasting this money in the times of a recession getting busy with israeli military contracts?
Sorry can someone explain who are Act for Palestine? They call themselves a local cross-community group based in Dublin but what do they do that is different from the IPSC? Too many groups are going to dilute the issue but are they satellite groups of the IPSC? I've met IPSC in Donegal but haven't heard of the new group.
I would have thought that was a compliment.
But then I'm neither lady nor gentleman and get sick of sectarian infighting that distracts from the issues at hand.Hence my own party allegiance.
Can we save the handbaggings till the real problems are half-way solved?Meantime the settlements and abuses continue while you are picking each others noses.
Gentleman, ladies
I quote
When are we going to learn,.is the reason not perfectly obvious? The problem of Palestine is never off the air. Politicians need good causes because that's how they build up their profile. They are brands and brands need mass media recognition. It pretty bog standard gombeen politics. Its worked for them before so naturally they're not going to stop now.
The simple example of this is the IAWM . In the whole history of the IAWM there has rarely been an occasion when Mr Boyd Barrett's name was not on the press releases, getting his name mentioned in the press, even though he has never been the press officer as far as I know? How cynical is that?
The issues are secondary.
The SWP are a menace to the struggle for justice in Ireland, they leave a trail of destruction across Dublin. creating cynicism of all left wing or revolutionary politics.
They wheedle their way into the trust of inexperienced people who are starting to fight for their rights for the first time and infiltrate and try to control their organisation. This usually results in a divisive internal battle to get them out which exhausts everyone.
Look at the crude cynicism of the right to work campaign. A packed front organisation. But it was fantastic to see nobody else trusted them. Spread the word.
The days when any decent left wing organisation will work with this organisation are nearly over, make them fully over. Isolate them.
Yes the SWP are great for campaigning on serious issues until they get bored and join another one. See the 'Respect' debacle in the UK. And it's so good to see ex-green party supporters expanding their horizons even if it's in the wrong direction.... Now back to the main issue of today's news topic, Ann Doyle style, 'Why do the SWP feel the need to take over other groups and not just leave them alone?'
The SWP are the only people that stick with campaigns. They have done a lot out my way and are so committed. We need them to keep things moving.
It’s a pity that the SWP can’t concentrate on the groups that they have already formed, the IAWM (Irish Anti-War Movement), the RTW (Right to Work campaign), etc. These groups are well-meaning but small and they should work on those groups instead of spreading themselves thin (the IAWM have worked with the IPSC before so why not again?). The SWP/Act for Palestine group are going to show themselves up pretty badly when they do try to organise similar events to the IPSC who are better organised, educated and let’s be honest, have better administration and spokespeople. Freda Mullins Hughes (the young, knowledgeable Kylie Minogue of Irish activism), Fintan Lane (the razor-sharp media officer arrested on the First Flotilla boat), and the volunteer activists in the IPSC are doing an excellent job for the growing Irish interest for Palestinian resistance to Israel occupation. The IPSC are setting up activist groups nationwide and now Act for Palestine are now just copying their every move. The SWP should lose the ego and work for and with the IPSC instead of confusing and mostly likely losing new activists interested in joining the Palestinian cause. Another case of ‘People’s front of Judea’ v ‘Judean people’s front’... okay you know the joke. The SWP/Act for Palestine group have nothing to lose if they show some co-operation and break the mould. Will they learn? See the SWP recovery programme for world domination in the comment before of steps 1-9 and include your own step 10...
It's simple. SWP ain't playing second fiddle to anyone. Standard operating procedure swings into action.
Step 1: Find cause.
Step 2: Ignore already existing and effective activist group for the cause. (IPSC)
Step 3: Set up competing network of local action groups (each dominated by SWP of course)
Step 4: Set up national umbrella group with catchy name to co-ordinate local action groups (lets call it COOP, Coalition to Oppose Occupation of Palestine)
Step 5: Invite already existing and effective activist group (ie IPSC) to affiliate to COOP
Step 6: Launch campaign to relentlessly promote COOP
Step 7: Insist that COOP as a broad based democratic national grouping gets first billing on all future events
Step 8: Suck in best of IPSC activists to SWP
Step 9: Remaining IPSC activists drift away shaking head and wondering what went wrong???
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Yeah...The IPSC are actually focussed and getting somewhere. There is no infighting or political gain. Thats a real threat. They need to be controlled, diluted and neutralised like IAWM / SWP and all the other politically motivated activist groups. Divide and conquer. You are doing the zionists work for them. It's a really stupid idea folks
A new group is necessary because SWP/IAWM/PBPA/RTWC doesn't actually control the IPSC. Yet.
Why has the IAWM decided to set up a new organisation? Have the IPSC done something to offend them?
Would someione from the IAWM please state why they feel this new front is necessary? In what way is the IPSC deficent?
I don't believe that the IPSC should have any monopoly on solidarity work with Palestine but at least I think we should be told why the IAWM have decided to set up this organisation and how it will Act differently from the IPSC.
..back at Gazastan, the Israeli navy are being reported on al jazeera breaking news as intercepting the Jewish catamaran 'Irene' that was trying to break the blockade.
And the settlements continue while Abbas flounders. And Micky Martin keeps shtum even as he moralises at the UN about poverty while failing (I imagine) to mention that long lost 0.7% pledge.
Please, from my heart, SWP/IAWM dont make another group for your own needs. Palestine really does need us, you know it, stop playing politics with it.
' ...local group to act in solidarity with the people of Palestine' . Did you ever hear of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign? They are farily well established.
