Following on from the successful actions at the Rogue Counselling agency at 50 Upper Dorset Street, a further protest will be held on Saturday 21 April at 12 noon.

Choice ireland will keep the pressure on the liars and misogynists who run this establishment until they either shut or make it clear that they are an anti choice agency. Their advertisements in the Golden Pages and elswhere imply that are Pro Choice and that they have links with Abortion Clinics in Britain. read full story / add a comment

The Peoples' Republic of China have today through their ambassador to the UN at Geneva and their state news agency Xinhua called for a new treaty to stop the militarisation of space arguing (quite correctly) the current international law and treaties are not adecquate to the challenges & criminal potential of state and non-state agencies.

The chinese know what they're talking about. They proved it by destroying one of their own satelites earlier this month. read full story / add a comment

The National Symphony Orchestra mustered a complement of 104 players at its concert on Friday 23 March 2007 in the National Concert Hall. This number included six percussionists and one timpanist. It was the final performance in the career of cellist Linda Kelly. She joined the orchestra in September 1972 and conductor Grehard Markson called her up to the centre of the stage before the interval and presented her with a gold-ribboned box of chocolates. She looked cool and fit and accepted the applause of the audience indulgently and graciously as she did at the end of the concert when the conductor called her to his side again. read full story / add a comment

In a staggering display of arrogance and hypocrisy the Union of Students of Ireland (USI) top brass were found by the Rights Commissioner of the Labour Relations Commission of Ireland to have treated a former employee in a “grossly unfair” way. Matters are now coming to a head and may upset agendas for next week’s USI annual get-together. read full story / add a comment

Faye Turney, a married mother of a young daughter, serving in the British armed forces, was shown wearing a black headscarf as she was interviewed and forced to apologise for "aggression" against Iran. The sight of a non-muslim Western woman forced to submit to the misogynist Islamic headscarf demonstrates the bigotry of the Islamic government of Iran and echoes the forced "conversion" of an American reporter and cameraman to Islam when they were captured by Palestinian terrorists last year. read full story / add a comment

Film Premiere and Speaking tour :
Mumia Abu Jamal is an award-winning journalist who was charged on July 4th 1982 with the killing of a white police officer. He was convicted of the crime in a deeply flawed trial. The presiding judge held the record number of death row convictions, in the state. Many of these convictions were later overturned as blatant anti-black bias was found in many of his decisions. However the Mumia case was not overturned, the reopening of the case would have discredited the entire justice system.
The evening’s events will include talks by a delegation of top-level African American activists. They are in Galway as part of a world tour aimed at raising awareness about the miscarriages of justice, which have placed political prisoners on death row in the USA.

In the last few days, some users will have experienced trouble accessing the indymedia website. This was due to a problem with the domain's DNS configuration - the system which turns domain names (indymedia.ie) into computer addresses. We believe that we have now fixed the problem and we apologise for the service interruptions. read full story / add a comment
