On 11th November, due to the demonstration of Polish neonazi organizations (including ONR -Oboz Narodowo-Radykalny), the anarchists and antifascists organized a series of actions which were supposed to show their determined and straightforward objection against fascism. The actions were a part of the European days against fascism, which were announced by the antifascist conference organized by Siempre Antifascista. read full story / add a comment

The Socialist Workers Party has split. There has been some speculation on Indymedia and elsewhere that the SWP was having internal difficulties in Belfast. The dust has now settled, and the bulk of their Belfast organisation is now outside of the party. read full story / add a comment

On Feb 16th 2009, using contact.ie, I sent an e-mail to all public reps re: Anglo Irish Bank and members of the gov.
As far as I can remember the mail I sent was a cut up of a comment/ letter written by someone on some blog I read at the time and the article I mention in the mail from the Irish Examiner. Today, going through my unopened mail I discovered the minister decided to reply by including me in his list of contacts to recieve waffle ten months later via Niall Blaney T.D. Below is the correspondance. read full story / add a comment

These left wing parties, such as the SWP and the SP, claim that there are pro-working class solutions available to the Irish state within a capitalist paradigm. In making such reactionary claims they are merely attempting to fool the working class. There are only two solutions: a capitalist or a communist solution. read full story / add a comment

Brand new play about James Connolly's last days awaiting executecution.Unlike most plays about the Easter Rising where the leaders are depicted as archetypal and distant mythological figures here the protaganists strike you as human and familiar.Alternating between scenes portraying Jim,s family, his youth and the pollitical/millitary background the play is both deeply moving and informative. With a large cast of men, women & children the production itself reflects the ideals of equality and solidarity the subject deserves !

In the late 1970s and early 80s Dublin was a city spinning out of control due to the first devastating epidemic of heroin addiction. Inner city communities were under siege as drug users converged from all over to buy drugs in their flat complexes. By early 1983 hundreds had died as a result of drug related problems. Ordinary citizens mobilised and took to the streets in an attempt to stop the sale and distribution of drugs which were killing their families, friends and neighbours. read full story / add a comment
