The Galway Alliance Against War is to hold two protests in the city next week to mark the visit of Queen Elizabeth and President Barak Obama to Ireland. And yes, then, in a perverse way, I do think Vincent Browne has a point. In the short term there is no way out other than, more or less, what is being officially advocated by the establishment i.e. outside of revolution. At present neither Ireland nor Western Europe have the popular culture nor organised forms to develop social revolution into communism. A Video released today by Animal Defenders International shows the elephant that appears alongside Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in the new film Water for Elephants, being beaten and electric shocked during training. The 6th Anarchist Bookfair will take place in Dublin the weekend of 14th May 2011 at Liberty Hall, Eden Quay. We have a full schedule of meetings planned and a varied range of book stalls from a host of anarchist and radical publishers and organisations. Doors open at 10am and the first meetings start at 11:30 so forgo the weekend lie-in, grab a coffee and come on down!
