UCC has paid huge sums to a criminal professor

This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

offsite link China?s CITY WIDE CASH SEIZURES Begin ? ATMs Frozen, Digital Yuan FORCED Overnight Wed Jul 30, 2025 21:40 | 1 of indy
This story is unverified but it is very instructive of what will happen when cash is removed
THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

Alternative to Christmas shopping

category galway | consumer issues | event notice author Thursday November 16, 2006 13:49author by Santa Report this post to the editors

As an alternative to Christmas shopping and all the madness that goes with it, Buy Nothing Day is taking place in Galway and throughout the world on Saturday 25th of November .

We will have a stall in Shop St. with anti-consumerist messages and what events will be taking place throughout the day.

An example of some of the events:

- Free films (about the consumer society, multinationals etc) from 10am - ? in the Galway One World Centre (beside Fat Freddies Pizzeria, Quay St. - enter the corridor and go to the 4th floor) Films: The Ad and the Ego, The Corporation, Kojaanquatsi and Life and Debt.

- Street Theatre: 1-2pm approx.

-possible art installation (to be announced)

(if anyone wants to take part, turn up on the day - assemble at Galway One World Centre at 12:00 dressed all in white). We'll have a 'preacher' from the 'Church of the Consumer'. Volunteers can be his 'followers'
We also need people to man our stall in Shop St., hang up posters and give out leaflets.

Phone Kerry on 087 911 16 24 for more info.

Thanks a lot from the traders in Galway Weekend Market . Many of us only trade one day a week, most of us selling produce we have made or grown ourselves during the week.

From Malahide Market traders, who only operate on Saturday and who sell fresh fruit and veg, and handmade craft goods etc etc one day a week.

In fairness, I think most people who are disgusted with the consumerist society would (correct me if I'm wrong anyone!). The way I see this day is more that its against the big companies who constantly dupe us into buying crap we don't need through intensive advertising and scare-mongering. Rest assured that while I would avoid those guys for this one day in the year at least, I would have no qualms buying from yourselves, charity shops, fairtrade shops etc. In fact, it would actually encourage me to go to these more ethical places in search of pressies!

Buy Nothing Day is to draw attention to over consumption in our society. It is about thinking about how we buy, how much we buy and what effect our actions have.

We are all consumers, but we can all make a difference in choosing local produce from small independent traders, therefore we wholeheartedly support the saturday market traders. It is the big multinational corporations we have a problem with and buying for buying's sake.

We are not necessarily asking people to buy nothing on that day, just to think about what they buy and whether we really need all the useless stuff we buy. Think about what kind of social and environmental impacts our actions have.

Thats the way i understood it anyway! Well done to the organisers. Promise I won't buy any crap I don't need that day, and will do my best to check out better alternatives as I mentioned above.

hey folks
donal in galway here
i manned the stall in shop street for buy nothing day on saturday gone and let me say that im suprised to see negative comments from the market stall holders in the city .
I thought that above all people in our society the traders on the ground would want to be the first people to back a protest about anti globalisation and connsumerism in a hope to keep people out of the high street stores over the christmas ,
buy nothing day in my eyes is a great thing and the world would be a sadder place without it .
i have been a regular face round the market for most of my adult life and have done the vast majority of my weekly shoping and christmas shopping there for many years its almost like a pilgramage my walk from henrys street and back first thing saturday morning rain or shine .and many of the traders im sure will vouch to seeing my face in all conditions over there stalls for many years
i do this because i believe strongly in local trade
i do this because i like to know where my money goes when i spend it and know it stays locally instead of in some "expletives" pocket
i do this because i believe in fair trade and value for money both sides of the equation
THESE ARE THE SAME REASONS I WAS ON THAT STALL ON SATURDAY GONE
every single person that i spoke to that day had allready made several purchases in the shops several had spent many hundreds of euros without knowing who they gave there money to. i asked them they didnt know !!!!!
when they told me that i pointed EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM IN THE DIRECTION OF GUESS WHERE ???
thats right the market !!!!!!
telling them that if they couldnt buy nothing to at least buy local
some laughed and scorned me
some went to the shops and spent more money
some shouted get a job
hundreds of people said fair play it needs doing and went about there shopping
but a group of about five teenage girls stopped and listened to what i had to say and questioned me for almost an hour after it and i know i made a difference to them and that they WILL THINK BEFORE THEY SPEND from now on i know this so dont be to suprised when you see them at your stall next week . and if we can make one person think then the efforts of the ten or so crew most definitly werent wasted.

long live the L.E.T.S.
DONAL FINN
P.S. any sign of the market traders starting to take corribs ???!!!???
