Some 40 people took part this lunchtime in the march from the top of Grafton street to the Greek embassy as part of the International Day of Resistance and Solidarity. Leaflets proclaiming that ;Our lives do not belong to the state' were distributed and the banners unfurled. On arrival at the Greek embassy we observed that the frontage had been splattered with red paint and at least one window had been broken sometime previously. Samir Adil, leader of the Iraq Freedom Congress (IFC) was among those injured in an indiscriminate terror bombing of a restraunt in Kirkurk on Friday, 11 December. 55 people were killed and 100 were wounded. The IFC has been working across ethnic divides in Kirkuk to unite local communities against the US occupation and sectarian militias.

Over the last week/ten days, local people in what Shell and the government like to style as the 'receiving communities' of Rossport, Glenamoy and Pullathomas (as if a dirty big refinery, a dangerous experimental pipeline and a gombeen-facilitated Gas Robbery were gifts beyond price!) joined with solidarity activists from elsewhere in Ireland to pursue a project more sustaining and sustainable than Corrib - the gradual re-afforestation of magnificent beautiful Erris with appropriate species of trees!
