FIVE YEARS after the onset of economic crisis, the policy of bank bail-outs and austerity is a disastrous failure. Unemployment remains at crisis levels and tens of thousands of educated young people leave the country every year.
Over 180,000 people are unable to pay their mortgages; poverty and homelessness are on the rise; and workers’ pay, conditions and rights are under serious attack . Vulnerable groups such as those with disabilities, mental health issues, special needs or lone parents are repeatedly attacked. Our health, education and public services are being cut to ribbons.
We need to come together to co-ordinate resistance to further cuts and austerity taxes in the forthcoming budget. read full story / add a comment

The proof that Britain's Secret Services MI5 in British Occupied ireland, are hell bent on undermining the Irish Peace Process, can be found in the contrasting treatment of Orange Order Loyalist Stephen Irwin, perpetrator of the Greysteel Massacre and the internment without charge or trial of traditional irish Republican, Martin Corey. If the Irish Peace Process works, MI5 will be out of their multi-million pound, State of the Art Palace Barracks in Holywood, County Down, minus their multi million pound budget, the prize of their turf wars with competing Secret Service MI6. read full story / add a comment

Project Overview
On a physical level the Corrib project comprises of a gas refinery 8km inland at Ballinaboy, an offshore section of pipeline 80km long from the beach at Glengad to the Corrib field 80km to the west under the Atlantic, and the 8km of onshore pipeline between the two, which is currently under construction.
The infrastructure of the project is spread over this area, while the secondary support infrastructure of roads and quarries etc extends further out.

Two of the images are from a Shell planning application, with some more detail of the project overlaid, to give context to the photographs that follow. read full story / add a comment

It seems very likely that the US, backed by UK,France etc, is going to attack Syria very soon.

Regardless of what we think of the Assad regime and its crimes we should oppose this intervention which will only make matters worse and is only designed to further imperialist interests.

As we don’t know exactly when this will occur the Irish Anti-War Movement is calling a protest at the Spire for 6pm ON THE DAY OF THE ATTACK or THE NEXT DAY IF THE ATTACK IS AT NIGHT.

END INTERNMENT
international / rights, freedoms and repression / opinion/analysis Tuesday August 27, 2013 14:03 by Brian Clarke   image 1 image   video 1 video file
Internment. No charge. No trial. This has been the reality in Ireland, for every generation, North and South, since the foundation of both scum states. Despite a nominal Peace Process, internment without charge or trial, still exists in one form or another today in both parts of Ireland. Clearly therefore, there is something very dysfunctional in the neo-colonial political arrangement. read full story / add a comment
