I've always fancied a brief chat with an official in an out of the way registry office, while some think it needs an Elvis impersonator in a church in a Las Vegas. Others like hotels, marquees, beaches in the Maldives, even on the wings of a plane- but I don't think anyone can beat closing a petrol station with your wedding vows. They even used D-Locks on the pumps instead of rings! Check out more pictues and details of the ceremony here : http://chriskasza.blogspot.com/2008/09/week-25-best-not....html read full story / add a comment ![]()

As another bubble in all this, yesterday saw the first of 25 days of the first "Global Eco Forum"... read full story / add a comment ![]()

Harold H. Thompson is an anarchist prisoner serving life plus sentences in Tennessee, USA after a series of farcical trials. Harold is well known for his work as a 'jailhouse lawyer' and copes with prison by fighting for his fellow prisoner in the courts for some semblance of real justice. "I am an anti-authoritarian, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anarchist revolutionary of proud Irish heritage. I am also a vegetarian and strongly support the animal liberation movement. I stand for civil/human rights and will not break, bend nor be intimidated. I stand in solidarity with all people struggling against oppression but most particularly with my brothers and sisters in the anarchist movement". read full story / add a comment ![]()

In the last hour Shell has announced that the Solitaire pipe laying ship is to depart from Irish territorial waters and go to a British port for repair and assessment. The company has always claimed that it was not responding to pressure from protests against its plan to install an offshore section of production pipeline without any planning permission for the onshore section. Maura Harrington, who is on hunger strike at the Shell compund at Glengad beach, has yet to make a statement, but it is hoped that if the company claim is true, and the ship leaves, then she may end or suspend her protest. read full story / add a comment |
