Dublin youth activists united in protest today outside the European Union house to urge a No! vote in this Thursday’s Lisbon Treaty referendum.

The protest, which included an open mic and street theatre, was jointly organised by Ógra Shinn Féin, and the Connolly Youth Movement, with members of the IPSC and Anarchist activists also in attendance.

Following a very imaginative and visible protest which had Brian Cowen and Charlie McCreevy present, there was an extensive canvass of the thronged Grafton Street asking people to secure a better deal for Ireland, and vote No!

As a species we are finally waking up to the Climatic crisis that we have stupidly gotten ourselves into. After many years of not listening, people now realise the problem we face: ADAPT OR DIE. Some see the human species as a cancer that should die off, a natural end for a silly species. But others have a vision of a sustainable world, a vision that drives them to think differently, act differently, design differently, live differently. For many its simple little lifestyle changes, for others its nothing short of the next chapter in this unfolding strange story of civilization: the ecological revolution. read full story / add a comment

Ógra Shinn Féin publicly launched a short film ‘Drugs – A Community Struggle!’ at their youth forum on drugs last Saturday 17 May in the Teacher’s Club, Dublin .

The short film outlines the youth movement’s NARC (Not Another Ravaged Community) campaign which is working to increase drug and alcohol awareness and tackle the negative effects that they have on our youth and communities.

The film outlines the problems associated with drink and drugs, the underlying reasons behind these problems, and identifies solutions on how we can collectively begin to tackle the drug epidemic.

The republican youth movement have uploaded the film to YouTube and Bebo in order to engage a wider audience.

You can view it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVzsjyDQePk

Under the Residential Institutions Redress Act, 2002 the Irish Residential Institutions Redress Board came into being. I submit that Its conduct and operation constitutes a gross violation of National and International Human and Civil Rights. It encourages unscrupulous applicants and professional people to lie, conceal information and give false evidence in return for financial awards. It denies it's victims their right to innocence unless proved otherwise, and hides behind a wall of absolute secrecy.

The Council of Europe has called on Ireland to decriminalise abortion.

This week , the Council of Europe's Committee on Equal Opportunities issued a report saying all member states should guarantee women the right to a safe termination of pregnancy.

The report states quite clearly: “the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men considers that a ban on abortions does not result in fewer abortions, but mainly leads to clandestine abortions, which are more traumatic and more dangerous.”

Some people estimate that the number of Irish women who travel to England every year is about 7,000. Since some women obviously use false British addresses, or disguise their origins in other ways, the true figure can never be known.

Anarchism has traditionally been hostile to all religions because by their very nature they tend to be authoritarian. A supernatural creator who sets the rules is naturally considered to be the ultimate source of authority. And its authority means humanity’s obedience. If there is a god, it would, in the words of Bakunin, be necessary to abolish him. But a creator doesn’t exist, so we are left with the more mundane task of spreading the good news that values aren’t handed down from on high, but emerge from human society.

Channel 4 ran a documentary on thursday nigth claiming to be a 'scientific' counter argument to climate change. The scientific method is to look at the balance of evidence and make a decision, not focus on one or two pieces alone.
